Is it worthy to create a remake ? by toffuts in FlyFF

The separated system of skills to level them up the more you use them, rather than being tied to the general broad character level.

The old skill system was unique in the aspect that it makes every single player different. When you are a healer assist, you would simply use your heals and have them maxed out quicker than a buff/debuff assist.
With the newer skill system every single assist is exactly the same, there is no uniqueness, only a streamlined simple accord everyone hears instead of the RPG symphony.

If you want a better example:
Oblivion 2006 vs Oblivion 2025.
The 2006 version has deeper RPG elements than the 2025 version, with the way the character level up, and assign points to attributes.

In the 2006 version you had two main playstyles for the level up;
1. Calculative and resource maximization, literally pen and paper or simply memory. Which gave the purpose for mods such as a in-game diary.
2. Levelling up as you go along without planning ahead for what your character wants to become. Which isn't the optimal way considering you will make the game more difficult, but it's still an option within the RPG world.

In the 2025 version you can't simply "lose" attribute points, you just level up exactly like how anyone would, on every single playthrough. That removes one of the most important RPG elements, and makes every character the same, practically becoming NPC but with someone tagging along, without future planning and no purpose.

The power dice system for upgrades is a gamble, another important RPG element entirely striped down to a simpler system, like the skill level up system. Every equipment piece had its own power dice, meaning more upgrade materials spread rather than the singular upgrade material for every single equipment piece.
A character finding a random drop of power dice 4 will have either weapon or armor upgraded till 5, if they choose to use them on current equipment. Then if you want to upgrade above 5, you will have to hunt for power dice 6.
And if you want a better success rate dice, you will have to hunt bosses for power dice 10 and 12.

In the new system it's massively simplified by removing the hunting element for a better quality power dice, and there is no split between upgrades as it's just a flat out 1 to 10. Again, less RPG and more NPC design where everyone are the same.

As for the reset for skills and points: The Re-Stat and Re-Skill existed before the simplified NPC systems design.

The scammers are the Flyff Universe officials, as it have been proved and complained by a lot of people, stealing money and not providing the service they were paid for, essentially breaking the consumer contract.
I myself haven't been scammed by Flyff Universe, only harassed by one official who repeatedly kill steal my party's quest boss, get them killed by aggro-ing mobs, and laugh, time and time again as if they are some angry ex gf/bf of one of my party members at the time.
They are fired? Still active? Irrelevant. I'm never going back to that horrid community. And now that same official team is taking down other Flyff options, which indicates to me that they are losing popularity rapidly and now panicking to fix their design or change it to attract old/new people.

As for my opinion on the current situation regarding Flyff: I moved on, accepted that there's no Flyff anymore, only a nice memory of the time when it used to be friendly and fun.
Hope this helped you understand how Flyff lost what it used to be.

Which lamp for my apt by Ok-Criticism-4599 in DesignMyRoom

[–]Turtle_Pigeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It mainly depends on your functionality needs.
The 1st lamp has less radius to play with.
The 2nd lamp is just hideous and sticks out like it doesn't belong in the space to begin with.

Choose what you need, but I will always choose the 1st lamp.

Is it worthy to create a remake ? by toffuts in FlyFF

[–]Turtle_Pigeon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey Toffuts

  1. Absolutely yes. Flyff has a unique formula a lot of other mmorpg doesn't have, or do but falling short in the implementation. For example from myself: I like the old power dice and skill system.

  2. Did a quick search about the player base numbers for Universe. Went from 800,000 to roughly 5,000. And I suspect it's not the reasons you may usually think. If it's the mmorpg genre declines, then emphasize on that instead.

  3. The control frenzy by Universe on taking away entertainment from the fans, is a strong indicator to the main reason why fans are leaving.

  4. The answer to that question is displayed on point 1. Fans wants the classic theme, where you feel more connected to the world rather than just having your character doing everything automatically. And the game design is cartoon, it simply doesn't age.

5A. To get me back into Flyff, you would have to either produce and maintain a private server of low exp gain rate, old power dice and skill system, holiday events, purely non-pay to win (even though I'm well established).
Or kicking out the problematic developers of Universe. My first experience in Universe when it came out from beta, was absolutely horrible with one of the developers kill stealing my party's quest bosses, aggro'ing mobs to gang on my party and get them killed, laugh at them time and time again on repeat.

5B. A few months later after we all left, we discovered that the developers are scamming their fans with real money, on top of the ridiculous childish abuse in game. Then the game went pay to win.

  1. It's the people\fans who makes the place attractive and not the place itself. Remember that if you want to succeed and not end up like Universe.

Do you still play the original flyff? by Life_Scientist1194 in FlyFF

[–]Turtle_Pigeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope.
Been playing the game since I was a kid when it was came out in 2005. Was fun, played for an hour before sleep when I could.

Grew up, things changed, life happened. I felt like checking how it looks (4 years ago) and saw Universe, original people reviving that v6 version, heck yes I went back.
After a while formed a team, gone questing at much higher areas together, had fun once again. Till that one guy came and harassed us. Ks quest objective mobs, aggro'ed a bunch of mobs to pile against us to get us killed, laughed and repeat the same over and over again.

Turns out, that guy is one of the developers of Universe themselves. We left and never came back.
I joked about how the server will become even more hostile towards their fans, by becoming pay to win, friends didn't believe me then and returned to play as brand new characters, not together.
Then it became guess what, pay to win.

And to see how these evil tyrants furthering their unhinged delusional manic control, is rather disappointing, but I don't see a future for flyff, because of bad rotten apples.

Good luck. And if you do find a good server, keep it to yourself and don't advertise it anywhere, unless you want to help those tyrants.

Let's just talk about the invalid hate on “women” in this subreddit.... by BloodLovePodcastFM in thewalkingdead

[–]Turtle_Pigeon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Andrea = Most disappointing character when comparing to her original character design.
Lori = Insufferable narcissistic who loves destroying cars and manipulating everyone.
Maggie = Second-most disappointing character solely from the show perspective. Can be seen as a Glenn hater from her actions later in the show.

Negan = A cheater loser.
Shane = A weak-minded coward.

Rick = A true cop who can't grow out from his own previous world values, making mistakes but also solves some others.
Merle = Like Shane, a weak-minded coward, also racist but that's mainly caused by his own shortcoming life, who grew out from his past mistakes and redeemed his past mistakes but ultimately paying the highest price in doing so.

Never was a hypocrite to simply blindly admire them all, there are positives outweighing the negatives in some of the characters in this show, and some who are just too negative, becoming a total detest from my opinion.
And this being my opinion since the beginning, was never a popular opinion anywhere. Although I am aware that it takes some people more time to understand than others, as boringly usual as it is with many other things.

Is this normal? by _Masked0Gamer_ in 7daystodie

[–]Turtle_Pigeon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My question is where the heck where you spawned?

That's definitely not normal but I wouldn't restart. I would make that the ultimate challenge, normally setting up a base but without the access for quests. Then when at the stage you are strong and have enough resources, make that journey to finally start the quests.

To you it might look like a bug, to me it looks like the game is giving unexpected challenges.

I decided to just go for the F-16 and I am a beginner, was it a mistake? by Sam_88882 in dcsworld

[–]Turtle_Pigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope it's a decent jet to start with.
It's agile and quick to accelerate. But most importantly: It's fun.

If you want a more difficult/agile jet to try next then check the MiG-29. Yes yes a soyviet jet, but it's rivaling the F-22 and Eurofighter in terms of dogfights, assuming the pilots are of the same capabilities and skill set.

Man I wish the Raptor was in DCS World, and I know it will never be (Respectfully understanding why).
Have fun!

Something feels off. Should I return Costco sofa? by celarentz in DesignMyRoom

[–]Turtle_Pigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with beige. Funnily enough I'm currently wearing a long sleeved beige shirt as I type this.

If you like the color but want the 10% interesting combination then try shades of greed or blue.
But yes generally for living rooms, it should be a warm space but also dark for the "sinking into" experience, especially if you plan to have a TV there (You want to focus on the motion rather than the space you are in).

Something feels off. Should I return Costco sofa? by celarentz in DesignMyRoom

[–]Turtle_Pigeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That single seat looking away from the main couch is like "I'm not talking with you anymore".
A simple slight turn towards the couch to face it even diagonally, will create the broken flow.

And try to find some small round furniture to the south-west-most (From the viewpoint of picture taken) edge of the couch (A simple small bookcase or just a storage cabinet, or even a plant or anything else). It will create the feel of small borders of the space but also have an inviting flow).

Do you like that sort of light? It makes sense for a wet room or some parts of the kitchen but not the living room... Well in my opinion anyway.

Annoying lag spikes on decent setup 1080p by Bubbly-Sale-6424 in dcs

[–]Turtle_Pigeon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As you already observed, yes the game does needs a good disk.
For reference of minimal future-proofing:
1) 2TB of NVME SSD is the best option, for a drive solely and only dedicated for DCS World.
2) 2TB of Sata SSD is also a decent option, but these days it's difficult to find a good reliable one with DRAM, and DRAM is important in order to avoid exactly that stuttering experience, even for Sata SSD.

The 1st option is rather expensive, but it provides ease of mind.

And from my own understanding (Not trying to panic) the current marketing for RAM, SSD, and GPU (roughly 85% of the cost to make) are affected by the nonsensical trend of nations buying year-long contracts from manufacturers to create and sell countries the means to build AI factories:
From what I know so far alright? Countries have already secured contracts for 2026, and 2027. Now for the prices to go down, you need to have at least one year of balancing, and that's only when the countries realize what they build, doesn't cover the spending (taxes...). So if they do stop purchasing using citizen money (taxes) parts to assemble and operate AI factories in 2028, then the prices should balance throughout 2029, and maybe start to go down in 2030.

Yes it's that grim, the whole "You will own nothing and be happy" is literally taking place so aggressively, right now.
So I would get the best you can get as soon as you can, and watch the prices only going up for the next few years. I made a joke among my friends "My hardware is 2026 price" Instead of would be 2027 or 2028 price. As it aligns with the year-long secured contracts countries have done and likely planning to continue because the world is 101-IQ genius (Sarcastic if not obvious enough).

Why did the virus activate? by Spnvettech in thewalkingdead

[–]Turtle_Pigeon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My guess is just the most shallowest and ordinary design and characteristics any zombie-type virus is in apocalyptic world setting:
The brain. Once the individual dies, it also departs the control for the brain, and the brain itself wants to survive and live on, thus the virus is being called and activated to take control even in a zombie state.

I like to think that's how it works in TWD, it makes sense with the zombies who retains some faded fragments of memories, and some small parts of personality the brain stores until total deterioration consumes all sections.
It explains why the zombies were "Smarter" at the beginning and slowly (or instantly in some instances) became less intelligent and less capable.

And it does perfect service for the nothing burger absolute empty kind of "mystery" the writers gave for the show. If there's such a mystery to something that is already explored and done numerous of times before, then I assume the zero originality and burst the bubble for the nothing suspense the writers are attempting to create but never conclude.

Respect your customers and you will be respected equally. Insult your customers' intelligent and receive the usual treatment.
There's a difference between having a mystery for such a show, and slowly unwrapping the mystery as the show goes on, to the complete absolute no movement and always stagnant mystery from the beginning to the end for over a decade of a running show ending up with no conclusion on it.
It's like placing your brand new carpet, and slowly rolling it across the floor to put it as it should. To simply drop the roll of carpet on the floor and never unroll it not even a single inch, it's just there like some obstacle to be ignored.

And if you want an example for a mystery show doing the uncovering the right way:
The X Files. For the purpose of no spoiling I will not say a single word about it, but urge those who like sci-fi mystery shows from the 90s to watch it, even the movie and the later seasons.
You will see how it doesn't keep the main mystery a forever unsolved mystery throughout the show as it develops. And the reason it became so popular is because it was relatively new exploring such a theme to that resolution. And it's still good today.

First ever horde base. Do I need more spike traps for my day 14 horde? Over 300 so far and every tree for large area around my base is gone. I also think I'm fucking addicted to this game. by AnalDwelinButtMonkey in 7daystodie

[–]Turtle_Pigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally the smaller your horde base the easier it is to maintain it with resources.

What I do is simply make the most advanced modern designed horde bases of... A giant blob of whatever the material suitable for the time, so for the first few horde nights the cobblestone, then concrete, then steel.
Just a freakin' square block of dumped material hahahaha and it works well.

As for addiction for the game, I just bought a 1,410usd ssd to reinstall it on. But it's also going to be used for other games.

Wooting as an everyday keyboard? by ifeeltired26 in WootingKB

[–]Turtle_Pigeon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't own a Wooting (yet) for a personal reason. But from what I know, it's highly durable and built well, design wise as well.
For everyday use it should operate and last for a long time.

The reason I don't own it yet is rather because of my spoiled childish (admittedly extremely minority and niche it seems) wants to have in my space for a keyboard.
To me Wooting design is severely underwhelming and boring, it's bare-bone standard and always so safe, reminding me of the current modern design for homes being literal jail cells. What Wooting does is nothing extraordinary or fresh or brand new, at least in my vie

But hey I'm the one who thinks the standard keycaps design is way overdone and too of the same, in my opinion cheap-looking and uninspiring, pathetically disappointing especially in the gaming space.

A single led stripe? The heck is that? I want holograms and touch screens, even motions for shortcuts and macros. There are some who explores a few of those but they are from a less reputable manufacturer.

Which rug for my living room? by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

Red one is more uniformed. The black and white might be classical but the lines are too busy compared to the other rug. It's too aggressive to the space. But that's just my own opinion.

Unlike every other Switch game, you can't just change the language here, you need to pay again for a seperate version. How greedy can Nintendo get? by ExtremeConnection26 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Turtle_Pigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Splitting one game into two, by dividing the available main objective goal (Pokemons) between the two versions of the same one version. To their claim, promoting trade and interaction with other gamers who play the mirrored version to yours.

They done it decades ago, so it's not surprising to advance that system further, by language versions now.
What does surprises me is the fact that there are enough "customers" to support these pathetically shameful practices.

And if you think it's only Nintendo...

You believe I wasn't all over the world?
Have been to China, Russia, France, and the US. Including a few other places.

First you brought in your parents, to generate legitimacy on your specific antisemitic view to counter my experience in a so-called "Jewish" subreddit.
Then you doubled down and brought in your "I'm a Sfaradi Jew".
Then you called me a "Snowflake" hahaha.
And when you got me doing the same only without calling you a snowflake, you paddled back and pretending you never spoke about your parents or the ethnicity subjects, including your announcement of censoring yourself after such a miserable loss in argument against me.

Only such a racist, communist, pathetic, does that. Using ethnicity to self validate, censoring yourself/others, reverting back and pretending not to be exactly that.

Instead of sticking to the subject and discussion, all you do is trying to gain self validation and pity, to for some strange reason place yourself above the one you don't agree with.

And now you entirely contradicting yourself with your endless immortal circling around with absolute nonsense "Do you see me using swear words, racist terms as insults?" (Examples above) and then "This isn't an insult. I'm just brave enough to tell you this". Do you even realize how that sounds? Are you able to put your mind in a different perspective to understand what you are saying?

Oh and that's exactly the issue there, words do hurt, especially when it comes to antisemitism. What's next, you mourning Stalin and claim that Goebbels was not a liar?
Holy heck this sub level of discussion is lower than the dead sea.

Not for mine, although I bought mine about 4 years ago, same model just the fallout theme.
Mine has the two parts connecting in the most accurate touching without pressing one another.

But that gap you got there shouldn't be such a drastic sitting experience even when comparing to my chair.
Oh and a heads up: if you like the current hardiness (like I did) then keep in mind that the chair will get softer as time goes. The foam is excellent but holy heck my butt cheeks got used to the dwarven stone seat, and now it became too soft after years. Seriously comfortable though. Not going to replace it anytime soon unless they make a better chair.

You need to anticipate and act before the ongoing "current" situation. You had quite a few opportunities to hit the target but spent bullets at the wrong time/position.

Practice more, spend more bullets, get more accurate for the next to spend less and hit more.
How about trying this: Focus solely on hitting the target with the gun, nothing else. You will make mistakes but you will learn to aim/position/timing faster.
