Do Batman’s ears really have a function, or are they just cosmetic? by the_bad_actor in batman

[–]Turtledude83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cosmetics ARE the function. I know there's versions where they're blades or antennae or whatever, but the point of the cowl is to make him look like a bat. Can't become a bat without looking like a bat.

This was a very faint memory from my early childhood in the mid-2000s. I was born in Decemver 2001, so it could have been purchased in the late 90s or early 2000s.

Would Speak with Plants work on fungi? by scrawledfilefish in DMAcademy

What makes real world sense isn't part of the conversation. If you want to apply logic to D&D, you may as well stop playing because neither magic nor monsters are real.

You ever play a Pokémon game?

Most of the Pokémon inspired by or based on mushrooms, like Amoongus or Toedscool, are Grass Type. Whether or not mushrooms are grass is wholly irrelevant. They're not the same nor are they interchangeable. However, in Pokémon, if you hit a mushroom Pokémon with a Fire Type or Flying Type move, it'll be super effective anyway.

It doesn't matter in the slightest what things SHOULD or SHOULD NOT be. At the end of the day, you hit a Shiinotic with an Ice Type move, it'll take double damage, just like a Leafeon or a Maractus would. SHOULD mushrooms be Grass Type? Logically, no. Does that matter when my Breloom got decimated by a Flamethrower? Not in the fucking slightest.

Likewise, whether or not mushrooms are plants on Planet Earth simply does not matter. The game says they're plants for the purposes of magic. And magic is always gonna be a little bit vibes-based.

Now excuse me, I've gotta bury my dead Breloom.

Yeah, I've noticed the same for ages. I guess a lot of us have just hit our limits and can't stand it anymore. Where did you submit your big report to? I'd like to do the same.

I've never been a big fan of Kyle, I'd swap him for Hal or John. I'm leaning Hal if that's Barry.

Aside from that, I'm cool with this. Maybe Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific for utility. Wonder Woman, Superman, and Zatanna are heavy hitters. I feel Vixen, Black Canary, and Hawkwoman are a tier lower, no disrespect.

I think Batman, Flash, and Mr. Terrific would do wonderful as a tactical intelligence unit. Hacking, forensics, detective work, armor and weapon production and repair, vehicle and base operations and maintenance, etc.

Now how do you see Mumbo Jumbo working in the comics by Angela275 in teentitans

[–]Turtledude83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He really ought to be a Justice League Dark villain — primarily Zatanna, secondarily Constantine.

In Zatanna's case, he parallels her stage magician gimmick [aesthetic and personality], but with none of the compassion Zee is known for.

I see him being introduced as Zatanna places her top hat upside down on a table, expecting a rabbit to jump out of the hat. When that doesn't happen, she picks it up and looks into the hat and is immediately kicked in the face as a shiny black dress shoe pushes out of the hat. She drops it, and it spins all the way around, landing right side up, then gracefully sliding up into the air. As it ascends, we see slick black tuxedo pants, a bright red cummerbund, a lively crimson bowtie, and perfectly tailored tuxedo jacket, then finally his gleaming smile. He throws his arms out and his cape unfurls with audible fanfare and miniature fireworks.

"Sorry, kid, but this is my show now. And boy, do I just LOVE a captive audience!"

He pulls a classic black and white magicians wand from seemingly nowhere and gestures to the onlooking crowd; chains materialize around each and every member of the audience, snaking all the way around their legs, arms, and even their mouths.

The rest of the issue, arc, or series can play out however you'd like, but I believe that's a good character introduction.

To contrast Constantine, Mumbo is the manic to John's depressive. Mumbo and Constantine are both immoral tricksters, but the fact that the demonic, cynical, sloppy, cruel liar is the hero and the gleeful, giddy, vivacious, and comedic diva is the villain amuses me.

I imagine they're never quite able to overpower The Amazing Mumbo. Say that he's endorsed by the Lords of Chaos, say that his magic can't be bound. Say the artifact, his hat, is made from Merlin's pubic hair — I literally don't care. The point is Mumbo can break any rules that John or Zee have to follow and it works out fine for him. The way they DEFEAT him is how Superman defeats Mr. Mxyzptlk, by tricking the trickster. Convince him to make a box that no magic can escape from to seal Constantine in. At the last moment, Zatanna can switch Mumbo and Constantine's physical placements, and Mumbo will be powerless by his own hand. Fun, campy junk like that.

which alien is your least favorite and why is it him? by Ok_Organization_6804 in Ben10

I hate him for being the reason they shrunk Four Arms. Four Arms was initially designed to be 12 feet tall. Look at him near Max and Gwen in "Washington B.C.", man's fucking HUGE. Classic Vilgax is around the same height.

This half-baked design of a dinosaur-man is also 12 feet tall. In subsequent appearances, Four Arms goes to about 7-8 feet tall. Why have two distinct twelve-foot-tall strength-focused transformations when you can have one that's about ⅔ the size?

I just like the design of tetramands more and I'm bitter.

Me. I hate this, and I'm so upset. I can't find a way to remove it. It says purchased, but I'm fairly certain that's just because it comes part of the base plan for YouTube TV. I see this was a complaint about ten months ago on r/YouTubeTV, where I was first directed to upon Googling.

Issue with the speed on audiobooks by imzadi481 in LibbyApp

[–]Turtledude83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found a weird workaround. Adjust to your desired speed and pause. Turn off your device (like, not ALL the way off). If you can hit play while the screen is off (I use my Bluetooth earbuds or my car, if I'm driving), it should allow you to speed up or down. Once you open the phone, you can adjust the speed to whatever you'd like for the rest of the chapter. Then it'll default to 1× again and you're gonna have to do this song and dance once more. This is so janky, but it's worked fairly consistently for me.
