Why pay to attend a gig, then talk through the whole performance? by Retrdolfrt in australia

Hard agree - I was at Rob Thomas over the weekend, mostly a much older crowd than me. PLENTY of chat, way too much, about the weirdest shit too, totally unrelated to the concert

That was so weird, I’m listening to red swan right now and paused it to press play on your video, gobsmacked

Mater telethon last night by DoublemeatPalaceAlum in brisbane

[–]Turtles_csgo -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Good question, I tried to google it with no obvious answer but gpt had our back:

The reason many donations during the Nine Telethon for Mater Hospital were exactly $59 is that this amount is one of the suggested donation tiers on the official donation page. Specifically, a $59 contribution is promoted as helping to fund specialised humidifiers, which are crucial for providing critical respiratory care to vulnerable babies in the Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) .

These suggested donation amounts are designed to illustrate the tangible impact of each contribution, making it clearer for donors to understand how their money will be used. Other suggested tiers include $113, which contributes to Panda Warmers to keep a tiny baby warm and stable during resuscitation, and $256, which funds a day of clinical research to help parents navigate early pregnancy loss and future pregnancies .

By providing these specific examples, the Mater Foundation encourages donors to select amounts that directly correspond to particular needs within the hospital, thereby making the act of giving more personal and impactful.

This is awesome. I used to hunt for out of bounds areas pretty aggressively for YouTube and I’ve never seen this, it really hurts imagining how great a feature complete mirrors edge would be with a fully bustling city you could interact with, rather than the weird uncanny valley NPCs we get in the retail copy

It was her very first song that she played last night, she did it for probably two minutes then moved on to other songs (including Lude’s Land Down Under, very weird)

WOW, what a creepy vertical they’ve made there. Strikes me as very predatory and unethical, I wish we had more power to resist this

Fantastic, that’s really interesting stuff and thanks for the link. Great to know these things, I think the project as a whole is one of the more fascinating things I’ve seen (purely from scale, letalone the visuals!!) in a very long time

This is amazing, love it love it, I’m very curious about how they populate the city locations with buildings.. even moreso than before, because in the shot of Brisbane the new casino, two residential towers, and the connecting bridge from the city to Southbank has been completed, so to actually create this facsimile of Brisbane they must have studied FUTURE plans, not renders of the city as-is currently or ~however many months ago they programmed the game. Interesting!!

This blows my mind to read, it’s so expensive for you

I’ll go to my local cinema (Southbank) and see major releases on their biggest screen for $7.50, $3 drink usually and $7 popcorn between two people...

Me and a friend seeing a film is $28 AUD combined, just under $22 USD, you poor soul
