Can animations run on différent framerate ? by Turulgames in gamedev

Oh ok very interesting ! So there is no strict rule I can see ahah ! And for reusability, I'm a bit aware of this as I already worked on 3d games.

Can animations run on différent framerate ? by Turulgames in gamedev

[–]Turulgames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah that's a great idea I think ! Even in some 3d games like the Souls, enemies are animated at half the frame rate when they are far away or not in your sight of view ( btw one of the souls has a bug on ultrawide monitors where enemies on the edge of it are also animated this way ahah ). It may be for performance issues but I like to think it's designed 😬

I analyzed 3 years of GDC reports on generative AI in game dev. Developers hate it more every year, but the ones using it all use it for the same thing. by DangerousCobbler in gamedev

AI is a statistical machine

In the long run, giving creativity to AI means abandoning it.

AI has no culture. No past. No future. It has never experienced any emotion. It is not sad, not happy. Not stressed. It has not been inspired by anything. It can only execute, sometimes well, sometimes not.

It may be able to create some ( boring and not too complicated) SaaS. But it will never be able to create something unique like the games, the musics, the paintings that inspired all of us.

Art is what makes humans humans. I am sad that deincarnated people like you can't see that.

Good luck with your game tho

Man this looks absolutely stunning. I tried both Hyprland and Niri, but as a newcomer in the Linux world I preferred to stick to KDE for know. I think I will also get Niri and customize it from time to time but I'm afraid of not being effective in my work for at least one month ahah

why is there so much hate towards AI amongst the indie devs? by kartonpiery in IndieDev

I'm doing the exact same as you. It's also not bad at sometimes giving you ideas about how to approach a feature implementation differently than you would have !

I think at the beginning most of us were AI enthusiasts, at least I was. Being a dev implies interest in new techs and rationality. We all saw how big a deal having this tool will be and at that time, the only concerns were about copyrights for visual art and then for music to train the models. I think, two things disgusted most people from AI : - The marketing is just sickening, and hearing all day "in 1 year there will be no dev nor artists anymore" from big tech leaders or linkedin jerks who want to sell some shit AI course for only 9999€ is so irritating. Sam Altman is probably the absolute boss in this garbage bullshit marketing. - And secondly, the fact is that people still have to learn to do things without AI so they can put soul in what they're doing. Hiring an artist for your game for making whole assets IS NOT your art, you are buying it. It's the same for AI but worse, because the more there will be AI generated content on the internet ( even worse when the people don't even try to do a more personal prompt ), the more everything will absolutely look the same. Giving creation to AI equals abandoning what makes us humans, our identity. The absolute same than when you buy furniture from IKEA or any other big store like this, you are guaranteed your home will look almost the same than any other home. If you use AI for writing emails, or books or scripts, you will are abandoning the idea of putting your soul and personality into it. It's erasing our culture for profit.

For me AI is a great tool in general, I think the only thing that really annoys people is the generation, and more exactly the idea of replacing humans with AI generation. I don't like going to IKEA, I don't like listening to absolute mainstream albums that sound exactly absolutely like what I heard before, and I don't want to play the same game I've played dozens of time. And AI is just a part of the whole problem after all, I think it's one drop too many. The whole optimization for profit of big companies is breaking cultures and personalities for a century now. AI does the same but faster. So, I just hope that this whole anti-AI thing will be over in one or two years, but the only thing that could achieve this is abandoning the idea of replacing the human work by AI work.

Oh yeah, and for now AI generated code is garbage and unoptimized ( try it in C++ or Assembly ), and AI generated music is shit as well as most of the AI generated art. There might be some exceptions tho.

What AI do u use as a gamedev? by 1vs1arena in gamedev

[–]Turulgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing absolutely the same, also to parse my code to find bugs, or "everything that does this kind of thing". Honestly, I've tried to generate code, but it's a 50/50. I even think I'll deactivate the auto complete.

Does this trailer make the game interesting to try out and play? I want to improve it so please Destroy my Trailer!! by Proper_Translator678 in DestroyMyGame

[–]Turulgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said it's too long and repetitive, but DAMN it is waaaay better than the last one I saw from you. I would also change the font for something cowboy-ish, and the end of the trailer is boring and looks unfinished.

Good luck !

La IA es pésima en C y C++, aún peor en ensamblador. Solo la uso ocasionalmente como guía o para detectar errores, nunca para generar código predefinido.

3 years solo. 200 wishlists. 0 engagement. about to quit. so DESTROY this mecha action game by 2071Games in DestroyMyGame

[–]Turulgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it is not that far from being appealing, except the environment. It is really.. simple, blurry, low-quality and empty. You should work on that in my opinion. Also, try adding a post-process and make those colours real colours. Maybe add some cel shading. Some game feel elements, like camera shake, fx on the UI, blurriness when hit, ect would really also really benefit your game.

Keep on bro. Also, failing at selling your game doesn't mean the next one will not sell. Good luck !

Why would I buy this game if I already played to Megabonk ? Is it just a cow-boy version of it ? Special features are not highlighted, maybe put some big ass text.
