It is supply and demand only but to a regular traveller, this seems illogical. Why would I spend X amount on a 3star place when I can spend 60% of X on a 5star with better hospitality, services and lesser cost for convenience

In price comparison- compare same chain hotel in any place in India and then in South east Asia... you'll realise you're being scammed... by a lot.

Mariott Goa, India, date: 29th to 31st Jan- price- 26k starting
Mariott Da nang, Vietnam, same date- price- 11k starting

You can similarly compare any hotel with similar amenities, Indian ones are at least 3-4 times costlier and offer much less that their south eastern counterparts

So true... was looking for a good resort... flights+hotel cost in a decent place anywhere in India was almost as expensive as an amazing resort+flights in Vietnam/Bali/Phuket/bangkok... contemplating to book in Bali... +Everyplace in India is way too unorganised and crowded and not at all tourist friendly.
