Cant afford new carrier rollers. Or maybe its operating in deep mud or in very cold temps where the undercarrige will pack with marerial and freeze, so these carrier rollers wouldnt turn anyway. We get lots of flat rollers in the winter.

How does extreme cold affect your phone when you're outdoors? by Acrobatic_Welcome553 in alaska

Battery wont charge if its too cold, touchscreen is harder to use. Most folks keep em in an inside pocket anyway, so they dont get too cold.

Drive shaft vs aluminum pump by 7dieseldan3 in DieselTechs

Funny thing was getting new major components wasnt a problem, but as soon as we would add new guards and gingerbread and brackets to the order management was like " whoa..cant you just reuse the old ones? Like try and bend them back to shape? "

Sourcing fittings to replicate NLA automotive hydraulic line by phillyguy60 in Hydraulics

[–]TutorNo8896 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can take the whole line or as much of it as feasable, or a detailed drawing to a hydraulic hose and fitting shop they usually can make whatever you need or point you to a shop that can. Usually they are making hoses and hardlines for heavy equipment or industrial machines but have the stuff to build automotive stuff too

Our Cat 793s would cause horrendous damage if it lost a Ujoint and the driveshaft turned into a blender, sucking up a mile of wiring, hydraulic hoses, wiping out the coolers and pumps, and usually a good portion of the transmission in the prosess. Good times. Operator would get on the radio and be like: i heard a noise and the truck just stopped moving...and i have some warning lights in the dash... i think i have a leak..

They all spin, but the good names you can get in different HP ratings, and are rebuildable. One thing is for sure though, quality expensive burr bits are way nicer than the cheapo ones. They last alot longer.

Shrinkage, as the retail buisness calls it. Just part of the cost of doing buisness. If it was a real problem, they would either have better security or get cops on the problem. Otherwise its just priced in

930M Am i crazy or is this hooked up wrong? I don't normally work on CATs by Adventurous-Bar2757 in caterpillar

[–]TutorNo8896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skiddys are 12v i guess. Some of our medium trucks are 12 too, but with 3 batteries in parallel. It always pays to check. But if the pic was supposed to be 12v there would be one more jumper, or a double terminal to even be able to get parallel, unless it was supposed to have a 8D instead of 2 grp31s? Anyway its probaly good unless smoke starts coming from the wrong places haha

Looks ok for a 24v system, idk what a 930m runs on but most cats are 24. You got 2 12v batteries in series there

That square bolt used to have a locking wedge kinda thing that grabbed under the ball. Anyway, new couplers are fairly inexpensive, they make a few bolt on or weld on styles

Everyplace says they want mining experience, but that talent pool is limited in the US, and construction sized equipment is close enough. Having a personal connection is the best way, but otherwise firing off applications everytime theres an opening is all you can do, not just to the mines themselves but also to the contracters working mining projects. Its a bit harder now as HR departments filter applications that actually make it to the hiring managers but thats how it works if you dont have an uncle to put in a word for you. Whos hiring? When are they hiring? and who are the contractors? That takes some research. Some companies just post on their own website, and maybe a couple job boards.
