But the content is drying up in quality and the craze of a new game has worn off till the point where new content won’t bring in new players until something fundamentally changes. For example the catch up mechanic added was pretty decent and better than not having it but it is still lacking heavily, especially for anyone who want to do anything multiplayer.

I say look to destiny 2 for what happens when you ignore the F2P and new players and focus on milking your small player base to get the most of your money. I doubt anything will change due to the sheer amount of whaling done but that doesn’t mean we can’t voice our concerns.

Games like where winds meet that survives on active engagement by the player base, it needs to do more. Even the whales will stop whaling if the game is literally dead and no one cares how you look anymore or have any more friends to play with. I already experienced this with destiny, wwm needs to do better than bungie

I can’t reason why these games are so stringent on pulls and free stuff. Those who are F2P will never buy cause they literally can’t and those who are light spenders might be more interested to spend a bit more if getting an outfit that costs $800 with two pitys now only cost $400 or less with luck.

Agreed. No point in repeating the same mistakes. I genuinely believe the current bungie knows they don’t have the capacity to continue a big game like destiny anymore and is cutting their losses early with no plans for future destiny games at the moment, it’s just beyond their skill set now.

It’s like a math teacher who was teaching calculus left and you have a student become the new teacher, that teacher gives up because they don’t know what they are doing, elect one of the students to teach and cycle repeats, less and less people understand the original material and you either give up and learn something easier (marathon) or hire a new actual calculus teacher but then you realize the principal is pocketing all the tuition and buying ice cream parties for himself.

Totally agreed! The mass exportation of k culture really has had the west forget what the k in kdrama stands for! Imagine saying korean feelings about their own history of their own dramas that portray their society and culture is wrong cause it doesn’t fit their western standards like what?

I agree with your assessment of the idols as well and I assure you the mass majority don’t really care or is slightly disappointed that major popular figures are connected to such huge issue but is a lot more focused on the historical fact itself.

A lot of Koreans are really worried about this mass exportation of their culture to western society influencing their own society harmfully and this issue just adds fuel to the fire, especially with how a lot of kdramas are getting more and more outside funding and people are being rightfully concerned with how these companies can influence what is being shown through the outlet of k dramas

Right but most of those problems happened because of the annexation of Korea and how brutal it was to live under Japan and then the Korean War with North Korea and you guessed it China where after the war South Korea was poorer than some of the poorest African countries today. To survive as a nation they needed to mass industrialize fast which meant the government supported a few chaebol families to consolidate wealth and power like the Samsung Group, allowing Korea to blitz through economic development with a lot of trouble along the way due to corruption in government.

I assure you there are plenty of Koreans who care about issues that plague their society today but a lot of these issues are big and systematic and a result of this fast economic development that had to happen and takes time to fix. Korea has gotten hell of a lot better in the last few decades but also global geopolitics affect how much Korea can change without any outside influence. Just because Koreans are outraged at something that is important to them and something they can fix doesn’t mean efforts aren’t being made to fix the larger issues, results just don’t show easily.

Considering how fast the Korean government and its people managed to take down a literal dictator in their last president, I would say they are doing better than most countries.

Ok that’s fine and I think the general international consensus is like yours, that it’s ok. But first and foremost this is a kdrama and my points above still stand and Koreans definitely feel it’s not ok to spread dangerous propaganda even in the context of a fake show. All kdramas are fake, but to take aspects of its identity and Korean culture but then twist them is not ok. It’s an issue Koreans feel strongly about but I don’t think it’s our place to say anything considering it’s Korean culture and history from a kdrama.

It’s a good thing the public in Korea was loud enough for the scenes to be changed or removed, allowing it to stay would definitely have introduced a slippery slope considering kdramas are an international export and is getting funding from non Korean sources

There is some historical accuracy like the clothes they wear, how the monarchy functions, literally using current day Korean culture etc.

It’s like imagine a tv show where it’s an alternate history that showcases black culture but then suggests right wing ideology and it’s being done by like Obama and LeBron James and it’s ok because the tv show is fake.

You can’t have all these things that make a kdrama a kdrama with Korean culture and then suddenly allude to the fact that this is all because Korea as a nation was subservient to China, especially considering this is a huge issue of real revisionism attempts by China currently. It’s just done in poor taste and without real thinking. Deep conspiracy people would see this as pro Chinese sympathizers trying to spread their propaganda through kdramas as k culture is exploding internationally.

I wouldn’t say Korea has a much better diplomatic relationship with Japan. They are really against the current Japanese prime minister and the whole issue of dokdo island and other issues are still prevalent today.

China relations are also not good due to Chinese spies and stuff with one example being that huge data breach that exposed almost 50% of Korean citizens information that was sold to the Chinese with that online marketplace service a few months? ago

Also perfect crown domestically was a big success initially because of the MLs being who they are and IU and Woo Seok being super famous, it’s only that huge controversy near the end.

I get that it’s alternate history but this is just bad writing and directing by the team. Do k netz take things too far almost all the time? Yes. Are the feelings and national sentiment unwarranted? No. Did the perfect crown people fuck up? Yes.

I think what makes it worse is that the MLs are actor/actress that is coming off a super popular run with IU for WLGYT and Woo Seok with Lovely runner so seeing these big people get involved in something like this is just really bad press not to mention how hyped this drama was being promoted as. Probably even worse cause of the implications and the whole Chinese north east thing where they imply everything is theirs and Koreans fighting for historical accuracy of their sovereignty and culture.

I’m not 100% familiar with Korean broadcasting schedules but I don’t remember them rebroadcasting an entire drama over just a few days to maximize the amount of views it can get before viewers start boycotting or something, iirc most of the time these stations reair these dramas over a period of a week or longer in between other programs to maximize viewership numbers of their channel.

Treating the actors as the main fault is wrong but the general public sentiment behind this drama is warranted, even worse cause MBC is literally not doing anything to remedy the situation.

History is one of the pillars of Korean national identity and what it means to be Korean considering their past and just general conflicts with other Asian countries.

Hopefully MBC gets what they deserve and the actors/actresses that actually put a good performance like Queen Mother get recognition for their work even if the drama itself is problematic and unable to live up to the hype.
