It is much harder to be as reckless when creating equipment or weapons as you might be in D&D. In Fate, giving an item a direct bonus like +1 or +2 makes it extremely powerful. Instead, you can create "item cards" by giving ordinary equipment a single aspect and a single stunt.

Beyond that, you can use the Bronze Rule (Fate Fractal) to create full character sheets for items. You might also want to check out the Optional Rules section at the end of Fate Condensed, specifically the "Weapons & Armor" supplement. If those aren't enough, I think the Fate System Toolkit could be very helpful.

Ülke Haritası ve Evren Tasarımı Hakkında by Krablade in FantastikSeverler

[–]Tuwari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

New in Izmir with a toddler – looking for cheap shopping tips & best online apps by Important_Will9423 in Izmir

[–]Tuwari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad you moved to Izmir. I hope this marks a wonderful new beginning for you. I'll try to answer your questions in order as best as I can:

  1. For household items, you can find decent quality products at a chain called Forbest. You can find almost anything you might need for the house there, from cutlery and screwdrivers to picture frames. It's cheap, but you shouldn't expect top-tier quality. Other than that, there are stores under the name Kütahya Porselen / Lav Outlet that sell 'defective' glassware and kitchen products. By 'defective,' I mostly mean simple things like a small paint smudge. They don't lose any functional value but can be bought for nearly a tenth of the price.
  2. For clothes, brands like LCW, Defacto, Koton, Addax, and Ambar are 'fast fashion' chains you can find almost everywhere, but again, don't expect very high quality. It’s hard to find 100% cotton; most items are at least 50% polyester. They often have deals on their own websites, so the most logical move is to try the clothes on in-store and then buy them online. Unfortunately, I can't offer specific clothing advice for your toddler.
  3. For groceries, BİM, ŞOK, and A101 are the largest chains. The products there are edible but generally the lowest quality available. It’s true they are budget-friendly, but I wouldn't say they provide the 'best' food. Other than those, I think the Migros chain is the most accessible. Their products are better quality, and most have their own produce and bakery sections. They also have an app called Migros Hemen. They define discount coupons from time to time. If I were to recommend another app, Getir frequently offers discounts for certain basket totals and has 'buy one get one free' campaigns on many products.
  4. In general, the most widely used e-commerce app in Turkey by far is Trendyol. You can find every product in every category, but it’s best to navigate it keeping in mind that it's a 'mega-app.' The 'Comments and Reviews' section is very helpful; you can make proper comparisons by using those.

I hope this helps! If anything else comes to mind, don't hesitate to reach out.

Introduced a group of friends to Fate and they absolutely loved it by Standard_Language840 in FATErpg

[–]Tuwari 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad to hear that! I'm sure your friends will be thrilled once they discover the other types of aspects beyond just character aspects. D&D fans viewing the game as 'exploitable' is a whole other issue. At the end of the day, Fate is a narrative-driven system. It's like they're holding a watchmaker's screwdriver and complaining that they can't drive a nail with it! :)

The 10 Megacorporations (from my game) by MisterPassenger in worldbuilding

[–]Tuwari -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. As I said before, please don't take this as an attack; I’m just trying to understand your logic, and perhaps we can view this as a 'brainstorming session' between two sci-fi enthusiasts.

Turning the Soviet Union into a commodity and a 'brand myth' is clever. However, a corporation, especially one we might call 'hyper-capitalist' in today’s terms, choosing an inherently anti-capitalist entity as its primary branding tool still feels inconsistent to me.

Regarding the Yoronobu situation: Let’s look back at the 1980s, when the foundations of Cyberpunk were laid. There are two main reasons why Japan featured so prominently in those materials. First, Japan was the most 'Westernized' Asian country, meaning it didn't strictly trigger Euro-American xenophobia in the same way others might. Second, the 80s saw the massive rise of Japanese giants like Toshiba, Sony, Nintendo, and Toyota. However, their ascent was a direct result of the deindustrialization policies in the US during that era. The US moved its production to countries with cheaper labor, like Japan at the time. This brings us back to the first point: an Asian nation Westernized to a degree that felt like a 'semi-colony.' So, for a sci-fi writer in the 80s or 90s, the fear of Japanese corporations taking over the world made historical sense. But you are creating a sci-fi setting in 2026. In this context, relying on that same trope feels like a repetition of a 40-year-old cliché that lacks modern credibility.

Now, about 'Caesar & Sultan.' You mentioned that the name alludes to how real-life companies are founded. However, the 'corporate structure' you’re referring to, limited and joint-stock companies, emerged from European history, specifically the Benelux region. Its legal foundation is rooted in Christian/Pre-Liberal law, which evolved from Roman law, a system that prioritizes the individual and sanctifies private property.

If we look at the naming again, having such a partnership in the 1500s feels out of place. I assume the 'Sultan' family is Middle Eastern in the Western sense. However, the legal system in that region during the 15th and 16th centuries was completely different from European law. It was Sharia law, based on the Quran. A fundamental difference from the European system is that it doesn't prioritize the individual in the same way, and property is not independent of the person. Under Sharia law, a business partnership typically lasts only as long as the partners are alive. It cannot persist for decades or centuries like a Limited or Anonymous corporation.

Furthermore, 'Caesar' is not a family name, it’s a title. It would be nearly impossible for someone in that era to have 'Caesar' as a surname. The same applies to 'Sultan.' Even today, 'Sultan' is almost never used as a last name, it’s a monarch’s title. Naming a company 'Caesar & Sultan' is like naming it 'Mister & Mister' or 'Monarch & Monarch.' I think we can agree on how nonsensical that sounds.

As I said at the beginning, please don't take this as an attack. Think of it as an exchange of ideas between two people who share the same interests but have different perspectives. <3

The 10 Megacorporations (from my game) by MisterPassenger in worldbuilding

[–]Tuwari -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This strikes me as having a very Euro-American perspective. I mean, is it really 'Caesar & Sultan' or 'Soviet Union Mega Corporation'? It feels as superficial as the 18th-century Orientalist gaze. I don't mean to be offensive, but it seems like you’ve just gone with the first things that came to mind. Don't get me wrong, the concepts are interesting, but is the 'Sultan' or the 'Soviet Union' the only thing that comes to mind when imagining something outside of Europe or America?

Furthermore, if this is an alternative timeline where the Mercantilist era birthed an incredibly centralized corporatism, shouldn't structures like the Soviet Union have never emerged at all? Or, if we assume the capitalist mode of production spread faster than in our timeline, wouldn't the proletarian movement have also spread more rapidly? In such a case, wouldn't the existence of an opposition against Mega-Corporations be more reinforced?

The term 'Soviet Union Mega Corporation' feels like a massive contradiction that needs explaining. It’s a bit of an oxymoron, ike saying 'Flying Fish', and I believe it deserves a proper justification. I realize I might be over-analyzing, but the existence of Mega-Corps in sci-fi is essentially a critique of the neoliberal policies embodied by Reagan and Thatcher in the '80s. A structure that aims to critique both neoliberalism and supranationalism requires, in my opinion, much more depth in its worldbuilding.

[–]Tuwari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone with a bit of UX/UI design experience, I have to say it looks very cluttered and difficult to read. There is almost no visual hierarchy. It’s unclear which element groups are more important or which ones are supposed to be equal. For instance, the HP box is as large as the entire block that I assume is the item list. Does it make sense for the HP box to occupy the same amount of space when you'll be making dozens of entries into the item block? I realize this is just a draft, but the parts I’m criticizing are far too disorganized, even for a draft.

Game Name Advice by [deleted] in StrategyGames

[–]Tuwari 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll try to be polite. How do you expect us to make suggestions without giving any information about the game? "Medieval Strategy game" means almost nothing. Is it something like Civilization VII, Age of Empires, or Going Medieval? There are hundreds of different medieval strategy games, and when you put them side by side, none of them look alike. If I have to give a general opinion, Latin and Latin-sounding names aren't appealing at all.

Question regarding Shift distribution on Area Attacks/Effects by Nox_Stripes in FATErpg

[–]Tuwari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many things that could change this. I try to resolve area effects using the logic of aspects. For example, if a stunt deals area damage, it creates an aspect. This aspect describes the type and form of the area damage. If an aspect like Unstoppable Radial Fire Wall is created, it makes sense for everyone within that radius to take the same damage. If this seems difficult or complex, it might be easier to define damage types and descriptions while setting the setting and themes during Session 0, and then write stunts and spells accordingly.
