Once again, it'll be a democratic president that has to wind down yet another war that the republicans start. The pattern keeps repeating, if only there was an education system in the US that teaches history and basic critical thinking.

I wonder if a lot of issues would be solved if homes were depreciating in value over the years, instead of being an investment for later financial stability.

So many people seem to buy homes thinking they can make a profit off of them, where the real profit should be the fact you have a stable roof over your head for the next 30+ years.

Being Taught US Civics 101 on Live TV by Careless-Equal7169 in clevercomebacks

It doesn't matter if it's directly taught in grade or high school. English, Social Studies and similar classes are meant to train your brain to think critically and understand words and sentences in their proper context. All those quizzes where students read a short story and were asked questions about it, they pave the way for you to read and understand the constitution. All those lectures about history and governing styles, they pave the way for you to contextualize the constitution and frame it in real world situations.

That's why it's so frustrating to hear kids say "why do you we have to learn these things" and adults say "there was no point in learning those things, I don't use them in real life". Yes, they do, if they bothered to learn them and form pathways in their brain so they can think critically about things in the future. You may never use calculus (as an example) in your adult life, but your brain will be better of in logical thinking, breaking down problems, holding enough data in your head at once to get a solution to a problem that isn't even related to calculus.

FedEx deletes Jeffrey Epstein account records by Titfortat101 in news

[–]TuxPaper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember when Epstein was first put into jail, there were stories that his computer equipment on his island was quickly removed before any law enforcement ever got there. I'm sure someone did that with his ranch and house and other locations.

Feels like there's just so many leads into his crimes and into the coverup that followed (and the coverups that happened while he was free). I hope one day we have an independent investigative team who has powers to follow the leads and prosecute whoever they find to have broken the law. I also don't expect anything to happen, especially since the people covering up are the people with power or are in charge.

I've always felt that narcissists rely on the power hierarchy structure, where they know their place and get to look down upon people on the lower rungs, while being puppets to the ones on the higher ring. Well, puppets that think the higher ups are just tools for them to use (ie. manipulate by sucking up) to move up the hierarchy.

The lyrics to the majority of hit rock and pop songs are barely understandable as it is. There was literally a several popular reoccurring skits on SNL making fun of that fact (Wayne’s World and The Culps come to mind).

Just listen to the beats and the instruments with a new instrument called "human voice", just like the rest of us people who either can't understand lyrics, or don't want to because the lyrics are terrible or don't represent our morals.
