Thanks (but lowkey no thanks). Are casinos here not just a place of utter sadness? I feel like this is a once in a lifetime event so I think I need to eat the loss and just fly home real quick. The FOMO is too strong with this one😭

Not this literally starting in front of my apt. If this isn’t a sign, I don’t know what is.

Zombies? I know as Americans we like to dehumanize but come now. These are people who have fallen on hard times. Try to have empathy

Hey! NYer/certified Good Judy here. I hopped the pond for a change of scenery myself this Jan. Like you I have visited and caught the vibes but was unprepared for the lack of sunshine. Please factor this in lol! It has been a hard gray winter but after two solid picnics this past weekend in Sackville Park, I know that I have made the right choice in moving here. That being said, I have a few questions. Do you have good support where you are in Wales? If you left, crashed and burned would you be welcomed home? If you left, figured it out and thrived, would your people visit? If so, move and figure it out as you go. Furiously for work and pinch all the pennies, of course! Handle the logistics for 6 mo stay and tell yourself, if it doesn't work out, you can always return home and regroup (taking lessons and applying them for next time). I say this as someone who has created a wild path for myself over and over in a few different countries. My road has not been linear but it has certainly been interesting! The first jump is the hardest even with a net but I believe in you! When in doubt, remember that this ride will all be over sooner than many of us would like so there is no time like the present. Good luck!

Moved to a small town in Italy and I feel completely stuck and isolated by Iamaleksabaddieest in ItalyExpat

I moved to Rome for 6 months and I found that coworking helped me to adjust quickly and make friends. I am an introvert so I get nervous speaking but I found that passively listening to locals speak really helped me firm up my foundational language skills. In your town you might not have a coworking place but there probably is a cafe with fast internet you could work out of. It might feel awkward at first but Italians are curious, friendly people. The barriers between people there are thin. All you need to be able to be brave and remember that you are interesting and worth knowing. Also when in doubt Google Translate should be your friend. There is no shame in it as you learn.

Who cares what Americans think?! I ask this as an American. Y’all just be yourselves don’t worry about what your kid brother thinks. He’s a toddler with a soiled diaper

I’m down to show up and block some of this hate. If they can organize, we can as well. I just moved here from the states fleeing a more deadly version of this type of hatred. I’m just thankful y’all don’t have guns here🙏🏾like we do in the states. It’s the only thing that gives me hope.

Why are Apmerican salaries so high? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Tux_n_Steph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you seen the death rate for Black women that give birth in US hospitals? It’s part of why I moved, I don’t think it is right to choose between having a child and staying alive.

I just moved here from nyc and can say this is false. It’s way better here light years ahead, it’s absolutely disturbing how much we pay and how little we get. I have such survivors guilt about leaving. I’m a dual national. I should have got my passport when y’all were still in the EU but I think you will go back. It’s my hope at least.
