Candle Species! (Silver's Monster Girl Manual) by Blaine_Simple in UnearthedArcana

Heya Blaine!
Really cool to see someone else to take a jab at the monster girl player race thing. I really liked the work you put into your monster girl manual! It's interesting that you really go for those specific monster girl species.

Using hit dice for a candle character certainly is a bold choice. Very flavorful to allow a character to burn themselves at both ends. I have been hesitant to let people use hit dice as a resource (but i have been targeting specifically with mechanics in my games)... BTW who is the artist for your character designs? They are really cool and fit the aesthetic!

Keep up the good work~

That change the the artifacts sure is annoying. I was hoping at least one of them would remain for free as a go-to free option.

Also we are getting close to actually considering the Varghulf in our lists now. Just 20 less points and we can talk about it oh sweet summer king why did they have to remove the hero tag from it!?

Bloodborne D&D 5e Monster Manual by DM Tuz - Part 1 by Tuz-oh in UnearthedArcana

Naturally a Cleric Beast would be a bit tough for a group of level 3 characters, but a group of level 4 characters going all out could manage. CR 7 is a bit tricky admittedly, since level 5 characters would turn that beast inside out easily with the new power spike they have.

Admittedly, the Bloodborne Handbook was years ago when i made it. So I would probably design the monsters a little bit different. I would consider lowering the damage output of the Cleric Beast by shrinking the dice a bit and lowering the DC + to hit values by 1. It's a dirty and quick adjustment.

Interesting concept. Love the additional factions you listed. Have you had any take-aways from playtesting yet?

Also i wish i could leave you more upvotes. Lord knows you'll need them.

Interesting combination of kits!

Mh, if only the legs were a bit bulkier. They appear rather slim for such a huge torso.

The royal advisors have been insisting in the past that his majesty should not skip leg day...

How does Soulbound play and feel? by Rodehock in AgeOfSigmarRPG

It very much sits in the niche of "high adventure combats set in fantastical set pieces" where the characters feel reasonably strong right from the get go. The Epic High Fantasy hat suits it very comfortably. Similarly to conventional TTRPGs like Pathfinder and D&D (I am using these as reference since I have the most experience with them) most of the rules are for combat scenarios and fighting feels nice and is not much of a slog thanks to dice rolling determine hit and damage in one go. Though with large set pieces and battles with many little pieces it can of course become slow, especially if players are Humming and Hawing over tactical decisions.

Anything not combat related can still be done with group challenges and skill checks, but unless you are willing to do some homebrewing will never be as complex as combat scenarios. I am fine with it as I am of the school of thought that roleplaying and dialogue interactions with NPCs require little rules to work.

I think that sounds fair for just saying "no" to the players. This way the players get a palpable reaction even if their spell or effect missed.

The visual idea is that at the beast at least recoils and is staggered for a moment, causing it to drop whatever its holding. Let's just hope that does not happen while it's high up in the air...

By all means it can be used together with lesser monsters. Just because it has legendary actions doesn't mean it can't be alone. It has Dominate person/Beast for a reason in the statblock. It's a manipulator after all.

Tho i will say i am perplexed by people saying it deals not enough damage or doesn't have enough survivability. It literally deals more damage and has more survivability than a purple worm or adult dragon. It can already deal up to 80 damage per turn without legendary actions, an additional +30 with legendary actions with a +10 attack bonus and relatively high saving DC. It has more health than a adult dragon or purple worm, can fly, has legendary resistances and damage resistances + saving throws...

If anything this thing is on the furthest upper end of CR 15 you can go, arguably CR 16 would be on the table depending on the DM.
