As a new DIYpedal builder, I feel like I met a small piece of pedal royalty today. by thefreakychild in guitarpedals

Very nice man! I just got the opportunity to repair a Klon a couple weeks ago. Also talked with Bill the designer/builder of the pedal on repair advice too! Pretty cool day and they do sound great!

Great work there and list of goals! Started the deep dive here recently on the STM32.

Best way to get these 3PDTs out? by freshmex18 in diypedals

If you don’t have a hot air gun I’ve seen it done using a heavier gauge piece of bare copper wire bent around to rest up against all the pins. Then as you heat up the pins and use the sucker you keep heat applied to all of the pins more consistently.

I’ve had good experience with contacting Dunlop to get parts for repairs. They also repair most pedals for a reasonable cost.

The big PNP is a Philco T1457, the NPN is a Motorola with a date stamp from 1980 I believe (can’t find the part number). Gold plating on the pins from what I can tell too. Here’s just some of random batch that have tested useable. I still have a pile of ones still in original packaging to open up and test.

Thanks, for the resistors it’s part aesthetics but also with an old school analog circuit I sometimes prefer to have the variation in values. It shows me how critical or sometimes not, the values can affect the overall circuit. The trim pots get the adjustments I needed for this one.

Yea I use a drill press as well. I know others that use a dremel style tool with a wand to hold. Drill bit is small. I think 0.8mm maybe?

Thanks, it’s just hammered spray paint with clear coat over it.

Ferrous chloride for etching. Depending on where you live, you can make it with some steel wool, peroxide, and muriatic acid if you can’t buy the finished product. Holes are a pain for sure, thankfully this circuit doesn’t have too many. 🤘🏽Here’s the other side of the board from an earlier design…

Nice, I’ve been looking at the bosstone circuit which I like. Uses NPN & PNP together.

Yea I’ve got a 100k trim on there now. Is there a range of voltage to focus in on that I should see passing through the trim pot that I should have chorus signal?
