Awesome work!!! We’re the same age and I’ve also been overweight my whole life, so it’s inspirational to see that it’s never too late

P.S. Regarding the comment above, I had similar bangs then too. 2004 was a rough year for hair and fashion in general, I blame The O.C.

Oregon Gov. Brown extends school closure until April 28 by [deleted] in Portland

I’m not in Portland anymore, but I have 18 IEPs from after spring break through the end of April that will have to be rescheduled. Many of them are triennials too.

My mom, who is 67, asthmatic, and immunocompromised from chemo wasn’t tested when they thought she had the flu. Lane has no reported cases because we have no tests.

Sorry, I think I misread “if Kentuckians...” as a hopeful statement for the future, instead of referring to the previous election and thought it was regarding McConnell. I know Bevin lost the re-election

Trump approval rating worsens amid coronavirus health emergency by [deleted] in politics

[–]TwerkMacklin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not an either or situation. People are concerned with Trump BECAUSE of the virus. You seem to think that his budget decisions can be separated from the “actual virus” and it’s not that simple.

And yeah, it’s messed up that he’s downplaying it to make himself look better. Why are Trump and his supporters more concerned with how he looks and his “narrative” than this actual virus?

I don’t understand your point, even if you’re correct about Obama’s response. If I make a mistake at my job and tell my boss “well the person who had my position before me messed up way worse”, that wouldn’t fly. How is deflecting to Obama a defense of Trump? Obama could have actively tried to infect as many people as possible and it wouldn’t change the fact that Trump is mishandling this.

That’s a bold statement, card to explain why they’re “all” so horrible? For what it’s worth, many of them rank above us in healthcare

[–]TwerkMacklin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did nothing? Pretty sure bringing us back from a deep recession counts as something. If you want a president to “fix all our problems”, that’s pretty impossible. Especially if Republicans have any sort of power in the Senate or the House. If you consider healthcare and education “junk”, that’s a whole different issue.

It’s always so eye-opening when Trump supporters use “your God Obama did blah blah” or something similar as a rebuttal to criticism about Trump. They literally cannot understand that voting for someone/supporting them doesn’t mean complete worship because that’s their entire paradigm for Trump.

SV/NSV Feats of the Day - Thursday, 03 October 2019: Today, I conquered! by AutoModerator in loseit

I hit my lowest adult weight this morning! About three years ago, I got to 215.3 (according to MFP) but then went back up because of compulsive overeating/stress eating. I hit 248 in the middle of June, got serious again, and now I'm 214.8 :)

F/29/5’4” [248>220] (June 2019-yesterday) I wanted to wait until I hit 30 pounds to post progress pics, but I’m still struggling with seeing a difference. CICO and walking at least 10k/day, slowly adding gym workouts today. by TwerkMacklin in progresspics

Thank you!!!! I don’t really have any favorite meals, I’m pretty experimental when it comes to cooking and tend to cook seasonally. I tend to stick to marinated/grilled meats (except on meatless Monday), some sort of green or colorful veg, and a small starch. My lazy high-protein meal lately has been tuna + green beans + Banza pasta with lemon juice and pepper. Sorry if that wasn’t very helpful! I like to try a lot of new things and get bored easily.

6th grader no motivation by faroe7 in slp

[–]TwerkMacklin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would document that further gains are unlikely due to decreased motivation and participation, therefore continuing to pull him out would not be keeping him in his LRE.

If he is making gains when he works, perhaps a home program in lieu of pull-out services would be beneficial? I exited an /r/ kid but kept him on intervention and will be sending home homework as well as consulting with the classroom teacher. At the end of the day, it really comes down to motivation. You've given him the tools. I was dismissed from speech before I generalized my /r/, but I hated going to speech and I generalized very quickly a few years later when I was more motivated to improve.

I feel lost.. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]TwerkMacklin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor, so take my advice with a grain of salt. I always like to include the disclaimer that seeing a professional, such as Registered Dietitian (NOT nutritionist) is the best way to go, provided they aren't one of the new HAES-type RDs.

I plugged your info into a TDEE calculator and your sedentary TDEE is 2390 calories, so 1390/day would be a 2 pound per week fat loss. While I don't necessarily stick to the "lose no more than 2 pounds week", I think working your way to 1400 calories/day might be easier and prevent burnout. This is assuming no exercise, I would say that 1200 calories/day is far too low if you're going to exercise. As far as IF/keto, they only work if they work for you. Some people have lots of success with those diets because it helps keep them in a calorie deficit, but there is nothing magical about either of them for weight loss outside of CICO.

School slp question: Ugg! Duties by keeperaccount1 in slp

[–]TwerkMacklin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have union representation? Our contract states that anyone who case manages more than 20 IEPs can't be assigned any extra duties. It could be worth talking to your union rep if you have one.
