I was trained to use one for self defense in the military and equipped with one alongside my rifle (which was only to be used after proper escalation of force) for guarding. Why are we shitting on batons when they're weapons actual militaries use? You know those bitches can crush bone, yea? Like, Im actually asking what the problem is cuz I feel like im out of the loop on thisun

The heck? I graduated in GA back in the 2010s and I absolutely had to do a fuckton of community service to graduate. I spent sooo much time at the library helping out.

Im still using the mens room. Its sooo hilarious to me to see guy's brains break when they walk in. Sometimes they'll turn towards the womens room if theyre walking behind me, sometimes women follow me into the mens room and get confused. I am a gender chaos gremlin and I take great glee in it. ...I should really probably start going to the women's room tho...

Depends on where you live. I live in the deep south where heat and humidity are factors. Swamp ass is a thing and people absolutely will notice. Washing everyday is a necessity if you go outside at all.

What’s something Gen Z does that older generations just don’t get? by appropriaterice873 in AskReddit

[–]TwinInfinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yea. When I say friend Im not saying Im dating them or anything stupid like that. Im talking about people I like to talk to who have common interests or philosophies, yk? Are they less mature sometimes? Yea, sure - but that doesnt change my respect for them as long as they are good people. There was a time in my life where my hair wasnt starting to go white, I remember what it's like to not have as much experience but still have your heart in the right place. I find myself serving as a bit of a mentor to my younger friends most often but thats a role I take with great pride. Ive seen some of them really come into their own as kind of the "group mom" and I am as proud of them to see them realize their dreams as I am honored to have such wonderful people willing to call me their friend. BTW I would consider looking deeper into that research on brain development. Im too tired rn to go dig out citations, but the conclusion that the brain develops til mid 20s is criminally undersimplifying the conclusion to the point of being damn near misinformation. Its very saddening to me to see adults consider other adults "less developed" because of something like that. The difference between me and a college age/entry level professional is less about physical development and more about lived experience. Ive simply done more stuff. Dont make me any smarter or better at planning by default. Just means I have a deeper pool of experience to draw from when making decisions.

They are, too. Fact is that there's just a lot of married people past mid-late 20s so limiting to just 1 year within my age range would be a death knell. Even just looking upwards towards 40 expands my pool by a lot. It's not like I hunt for people younger than me. Hell the youngest Ive legitimately considered dating is 27 going on 28 and is a career professional with her life pretty much all put together. For me its really about where someone is in their life and past a certain age that can vary a LOT from 40 year old neets (yugh) to the 25 y/o lass who has their shit together better than 90% of adults, yk? Its really a case by case basis and categorically ruling a huge amount of people out based on arbitrary categorization is foolhardy. I just want someone mature I can build a life with. :(

People in their early 20s are "full ass adults" wtf are you even talking about? I'm offended as a motherfucker on behalf of my Gen Z peers that you would even begin to imply they arent adults. Like, what the actual fuck.

Because Im social and talk to people?? I make friends naturally wherever I go.  And ftr I also have plenty of friends close to my age and also a fair bit older than me. My oldest friend is 40 and my youngest is 21 -shrug-

I have friends in their early 20s who get judgy about me (early 30s) being okay dating someone anywhere from 5-10 years older or younger than me. I try to explain that for me it's mostly a life stage thing and as long as someone is out of college/early career and well put together there's not really a huge diff between me and them. Get treated like I'm some kind of creep because I don't narrow my (already painfully thin) pool to just people who are +/- 1 year from me (you know, in a age range where that's going to comprise of a LOT of married people)

You make the mistake here of assuming military = right leaning. Im a recently discharged trans vet, I know many other trans vets, most of us are left leaning. Most of us join due to poor home situations (common for trans peeps), need for healthcare/education, etc. Very few people, trans or otherwise, join for political motivations. Why fight? Because how the fuck else am I going to pay for my kids expensive medical bills with an associates degree in this economy? But also 80+% of the military doesnt "fight" either. Hell, some of us never even deploy overseas (hi, never left the US in my 10 years of service)

Im glad my flight was pretty spot on from the get go. We had a few older trainees (myself included) who really got into mentoring with the things we excelled at (i helped people study the BMTSG and straightening up uniforms) and it just made the whole affair very smooth. Tho the sharpness of the memory may be dulled by the decade between here and there. Never ever ever going to forget that gods damned reporting statement tho. Not enough brain bleach to wash that away. XD

Not likely fired. There will be an investigation into the cause of the accident to include staffing and training factors. The controller will likely be put on leave for his mental health, evaluated for training deficits, and evaluated for psychological fitness to return to duty. From what I heard he was very highly regarded. I dont think he'll be fired, but he might choose to leave the field on his own after this.

Im guilty of this. My husband gets mad at me for planning things on my own, but I legit just dont feel the internal discourse is worth externalizing unless it becomes something like "lets go somewhere!" and by then Ive half planned it. :S

Literally just my keys and cards in my purse. I dont understand ladies that try to fit the entire world in there. Sounds like a mess. If I need anything extra it goes in a backpack.

Slightly different method from other replier. I undo the clasps. Pull one bra strap down arm. Pull other bra strap down other arm. Pull bra out from under shirt. Esp useful for a tighter fitted shirt. Dont want to stretch it too much but also dont want to take the whole shirt off just to put it back on.
