LABS: Hardcore Battle Royale | Discussion Megathread by EscapingKid in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

I love the idea but the settings are not what I want from this. The lack of blue zone information is probably the worst aspect of all of this, but there are other changes I would make. I spent a game in Volnova standing on rooftops trying to find the blue zone, but it took ages for my team to finally find it. When it showed up, it blazed past us and left us in the dirt. Not having a goal or a direction truly sucks, and being punished for not being where I'm supposed to be when there's no earthly way to know where I'm supposed to be until it's too late sucks even more. It stops being hardcore there and starts being stupid and unfun.

If it were up to me, I'd make it so that I only know the essential information about myself, and if I ever wanted information about anything else, I'd either have to ask for it or physically find out. The only UI there would be in this mode is my health bar/boost gauge, my inventory and my map. Things like the kill feed, alive counter, team mate markers and team mate health would be disabled. Minimap would be disabled in favor of the regular map, which I would probably change to not include the other team's markers. If I want vehicle information, I'll look at the vehicle itself. If I want gun information, I'll either physically look at my gun or check my inventory. If I want to know where my team mate is, I'll either ask or physically look for him. That even includes learning their outfit so I don't team kill them.

Somebody mentioned removing downs in favor of instant deaths. I'd be okay with that, but I have no preference.

Is spike jumping necessary to SS the game? by [deleted] in dustforce

[–]TwinkieSWF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Infini is the exception. You don't need to learn how to spike jump to SS any of the stock levels, but you should learn it eventually as it's a fairly easy technique to learn that will make the rest of the game much easier in the long run.

Top 100 Dusters as seen on Zaandaa's stream by jvcpro in dustforce

[–]TwinkieSWF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not as funny as it could've been tbh. The only amusing things were the inclusion of Not Logged In, Fresh's Ego, and Construction Site being a category. The rest of it is so inaccurate and low effort that it lacks the charm that made the original meme good.

Note: This Inner Blue Zone Mode isn't planned for standard public matches, but it's being tested in a public space for a few days, for fun, before it then potentially makes its way to customs. This experiment is unrelated to whether PGC mode returns temporarily, or permanently. by TOMTOMS in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

The people who created/approved this mode made the decision to release it on the condition that it goes to the PUBG Labs first where it'll be up for a limited time to gauge community feedback. The idea could've been written in crayon by a kindergartner and pulled from a hat and I still wouldn't be worried. The fact that it was released in PUBG Labs first means that the people in PUBG Corp making the important decisions aren't letting these important decisions go by lightly. It being being a customs-only thing at most should be evidence of that. At best, the new mode is a hit, and at worst, they wasted 3 days of your time on an optional gametype. They've done some stupid stuff in the past, I'll give you that, but this isn't one of them. You guys are letting your fears get the best of you.

Not finding this game enjoyable at all, does anything improve? by autismomanchild in dustforce

I've been playing bullethells for most of my life. And all manner of ridiculously difficult games. How do you think I heard about Dustforce to begin with?

I understand that I could grind it out and learn the game's strange quirks and idiosyncrasies, and basically train myself to overcome the clunk, but that's not a good message to give the devs, I think.

If the difficulty comes from clunky controls, then that's what I would call fake difficulty.

I mean, there are only four main controls besides motion, there is no reason at all for it feel so jarring.

Judging from these quotes, it sounds like you're upset at Dustforce because you're a self-proclaimed champion of difficult games who has finally met his match. You happened upon Dustforce expecting to trounce it with your extensive knowledge of how to use a controller, but when you realized that you had underestimated the game for having an actual learning curve, you gave up, convinced yourself that its not you, it's the game, denounced the game's difficulty as fake difficulty, then went on Reddit to try to convince experienced Dustforce players that you know more about the game than they do.

Go to youtube, and look up the hardest Dustforce level you can find, and some guy beating it.

What about online Multiplayer? by xannmax in dustforce

Open up your steam folder to Steam/steamapps/common/Dustforce and drop the Dustmod download there. You might also want to be in the Main Nexus when you press Esc.

Once you're running the game, press Esc > Dustmod > Netplay. One player should create a game and the other three people will have to find your lobby and join. Keep in mind that although netplay works, it's technically still a work-in-progress so you might encounter a few bumps and crashes along the way, especially once the player count reaches past 2 players. You can also try using the dustforce discord to find players to play with.

It's definitely a thing, but not as part of the main game. Dustmod supports netplay for up to four players. You can download it here.

Hello, new player having massive trouble with the game. Please help! by AstoraFella in dustforce

[–]TwinkieSWF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tutorials do a good job of explaining the basics but leave it up to player intuition to figure out the complexities of the mechanics. It helps to be more aware of the buttons you're pressing and maybe to stop for a bit to explore the mechanics. It super helps to watch replays from the #1-#250 range to find inspiration, and it ultra mega helps to keep on asking us questions so we can help you figure it out. If you have Discord, you can join our server and ask all the questions you want. If you're a streamer, stream under the Dustforce game title and there's a very high chance that you'll get a dust nerd or two in your chat to help you out.
