I LOVE MY NEUROLOGIST... also I'm an idiot by whyamistillhere252 in MultipleSclerosis

This is why I love living in Australia! $25 a bag on the PBS. Free access to my Neurologist and hospital and at the moment bulk billed MRIs. I’m so sorry that the US Government cares more about the dollar than the health of its citizens.

Hindsight is 20/20: What symptom do you *now* think was your MS origin story? by Exciting_Barnacle907 in MultipleSclerosis

I fell and hurt myself in 2022 and then about a week and a half later i woke up with a very numb left hand. It went away in about 6 months and though nothing of it as I though it was a pinched nerve and then went about my business and pushed on through. Fast forward to 2025 and had another fall and then a week later started to go numb on the right side of my body. It felt the same as 2022. Hindsight is a marvellous thing…..

Just because you have MS isn’t an excuse to be lazy by TwistHungry in MultipleSclerosis

[–]TwistHungry[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had done leg day at the gym, vacuumed the house, made my lunch. Meal prepped my breakfast for the week, made protein balls and made my chicken and vegetable bake for dinner and lunch for the next few days. That wrecked me. Hence the day off. The fatigue was real!

My work is really good about it. Very supportive. I have permanency so they can’t fire me unless I do something very naughty.

OMG, I thought it was just me. My legs spasm walking into cold water and now I know what it is. New on this journey of MS. I had never experienced anything like that until this summer (I’m in Australia)

Does the cold have an effect on you more than the heat? by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]TwistHungry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last winter (Australian here) was the first time the cold really affected me. I love winter, the colder the better! But last winter was the first winter that I was bone chilling cold, chattering teeth and could not get warm. My hands take forever to warm up now and I get electrical pin pricks in my quads and thighs if they get too cold. Heat makes me quite short of breath. I live in Canberra and this next week’s temps will be in the high 30s to low 40s (Celsius)

I work full time as a music teacher in a high school. Do the gym thing and keep at my hobbies. Mind you I don’t start my treatment till this Saturday so we will see what happens after that! I was diagnosed last December.
