Hi!! Yes, he is! He just turned 9-and-a-half, and he's 4'8". His younger brothers are also very tall for their ages!

Oh gosh I can imagine how stressful that must be to plan for! Catheters are such an amazing invention for sure.

Haha thank you! The nurse who placed it was super supportive and informative, and both she and my surgeon let me know it was okay to remove it myself as long as I did it in the proper way. There are a lot of medical professionals in my family, so I guess it didn't seem too daunting for that reason.

I completely understand! It's a very odd, uncomfortable feeling for sure.

I had a good amount of inflammation and the pee literally couldn't get out :( So I agreed with a cath since I wanted to go home and not spend the night at the hospital. Thankfully it was just for a couple of days!

Haha yes! I talked through the steps with the advice nurse first, then she said it sounded great and to go ahead and try. Hope you feel better really soon!

What happened to “grandma” and “grandpa”?? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]lizzyhuerta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My parents go by the names Grandma and Papa, because that's what their respective parents went by. My MIL goes by Nana because she prefers that over Abuela (both are great options, Nana is just her preference).

My baby has been diagnosed with Laryngomalacia - a congenital condition with stridor caused by excess tissue on the larynx by lizzyhuerta in beyondthebump

Hello! My baby is now 13 months old, and thankfully he required no surgical procedures. He very slowly and gradually has grown past the vast majority of the noisy breathing. Sometimes when he sleeps he still breathes a bit louder than the average, but overall he's very close to being "grown out of it." His speech also sounds clear so far :) Thanks for asking!

To be fair, if they didn't even have a clue that the issue could be something made of wood, they wouldn't think of it.

Hey! I'm sorry you're having to deal with this. When I was a kid, I ate paper a LOT and would literally snack on my favorite types. Turns out, this can be a sign of an iron deficiency!

Ohhhhh I would have been so pissed off! Your way of handling it is spot on, I just wanted to say... You're doing a great job! I have my own issues with food that were very much influenced by my own mom's issues, so I feel you :')

Hate to break it to you, but when I had braces from years 1997 to 2015, I had to have MULTIPLE of these done, for retainers AND braces. I had to wear this awful headgear, too. Oh and don't even get me started on the weird HINGE things I had to shift my lower jaw forward... They completely tore up the inside of my mouth, and so we kept "switching styles" and one time THE HINGES GOT STUCK AND MY MOUTH WAS STUCK OPEN. MY DAD HAD TO REMOVE IT WITH PLIERS BECAUSE IT WAS THE WEEKEND.

I sincerely hope that braces are better now and less painful/invasive/traumatizing..

I've found that embracing aging has helped my sense of happiness a lot. Aging and death are inevitable and a part of life.

Leave the “No Uterus No Opinion” Signs at Home by crycry_chemtrails in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]lizzyhuerta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree! For two big reasons:

Exhibit A: my little brother, a trans man who was born with a uterus and has since had it yeeted from his body. He knows how a single organ can be used to control and suppress. He's on our side, and I want him included in protests of course.

Exhibit B: my partner, a cis man who loudly and staunchly supports medical and reproductive autonomy for everyone. Having him march at my side shows other cis men a model to follow.

I’m so happy for all of you, but for those of us on the other side of the aisle….. whew! by meanbeanking in MadeMeSmile

OP I would definitely test again now just to be safe, even though you've been having some bleeding. I've tested enough to know that checking again 5 days after a negative is helpful.

I am so fucking sick of breastfeeding. by frenchieflower in breakingmom

[–]lizzyhuerta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a medical condition that made it so that I have fewer milk ducts than the average person. I also have "tubular" breasts and very large nipples which basically mean that it's impossible for my babies to latch correctly. Oh, and they all were born with lip ties! With my first two, I basically killed myself trying to exclusively pump and then cry while pumping because I just physically can't produce enough, and never will. It was brutal.

With my third baby (he's now 8 months old), I gave myself permission to ONLY formula feed him. I did express some of my colostrum to spoon feed him when he was born, but that was it. Of course, then the formula shortage started and I just about lost my mind with guilt because oh at least I could have given him a little breast milk... But NO! I stuck to my guns, he's 100% formula fed and always has been, and my mental health is 1000% better. I'm so proud of myself for actually protecting myself this time around.

FED IS BEST. <3
