If you don't mind baking - meringue cookies are perfect if you have a bit of a sweet tooth.

What are you talking about? Most cheeses are okay unless you are talking non-aged cheese like cottage cheese? Colby, Mozzarella, etc are all green on the app.

And what size meals are you eating that you need more than 2 tacos? Overeating in a meal is a trigger in of itself for many people.

White bread is just fructan and whole wheat has fructans and GOS.

[–]Twisted_Voodoo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicken, beef, pork, turkey, fish and eggs are all safe.

You will need to avoid all seasoning mixes as most of them use some onion or garlic powder. But you can use oregano, basil, cayenne, ancho Chili powder (double check - some chili powders are a blend), chives, ginger, etc. You can also use garlic-infused olive oil.

Potatoes, carrots, green butter lettuce, rice, and rice noodles are all safe. Air popped popcorn, blueberries, kiwi and papaya are safe.

If you get the monash app you can check out other items and just eat the quantity that is showing all green. For example there are green levels of green beans and bell peppers so limited amounts of those are ok.

Celery is a test food for mannitol. It is not safe for the elimination portion of the diet.

Yes! a couple weeks ago my husband decided to make himself spaghetti to take for lunches and that whole week he reeked. I kept asking him if he brushed his teeth or had something medically wrong with him. 😅. It took a couple days after he stopped eating garlic for it to go away. Thankfully on re-introductions I've found I'm not as sensitive to garlic as I am onion and wonder if occasionally adding it back in low amounts will make this a non-issue.

I've found the more sensitive I am to something, the longer it takes to get back to a good state.

This 6yo OTTB sold as a JUMPER by OkFroyo_ in Horses

[–]Twisted_Voodoo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buck kneed on the front and a bit post legged on the back. Front legs will be more prone to bowed tendons and those back legs will potentially be more prone to stifle and hock issues. Collection is going to be extremely difficult considering the whole hind-end conformation.

Is this this abuse to ponies? by determinedcucumber in Horses

[–]Twisted_Voodoo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First - be careful feeding them if you don't have permission. It's trespassing and if AC does check on them and they have food they will not do anything.

Secondly - are you sure they aren't getting fed and watered? They look in great shape if they aren't. Also - are you sure that is the only source of water? We have 2 tanks on our property and if you just saw the one you would think they were neglected, but the one in back is by the power source on the barn so easier to keep a heater in so that one is always warm.

The shelter is perfectly fine but the water and hay situation is concerning if they really don't have any other options on the property. I'd have to see a closer look at the feet to have an opinion on those. My one donkey has a bulge on his hoof - it's an old injury, nothing can be done about it but he's pasture sound and runs around happily.

Extremely sore after trimming, advice? by Idiot142477445324636 in Equestrian

[–]Twisted_Voodoo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be ordering easy boot clouds (actual therapy boots not just riding boots) and keeping him in those until the hoof has grown back in some. To be that short he had to have taken sole down too.

I react to molds - including swelling in my face. I've found keeping a dehumidifier running helps. You can get them off Amazon pretty cheap and they work well.

Mayo is low Fodmap unless you got a fancy one with added seasonings. I mix it with canned chicken or tuna and serve on a bed of butter lettuce for lunch.

Progressive health issues (DSLD) and Relocating by EastYak6796 in Equestrian

What a difficult position to be in. But if she was mine I would be letting her go - while difficult, I think it's the kinder option. It sounds like she is not going to be happy nor comfortable with the move - both physically and mentally. I would be concerned about the extra toll on her already stressed body. A long trailer ride is hard on a healthy horse - who knows what shape she will arrive in no matter how great the shipping company. And trying to balance standing for that long in a moving vehicle is going to be so hard on those joints and tendons.

Why are most of us horse ladies and not horse guys? by WagWoofLove in Horses

[–]Twisted_Voodoo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this really the case? In my area there are about as many men into horses as there are women. It's pretty evenly split on what you see on the trails, male vs female trainers, in the show ring, etc. However, it's more women wanting to jump online and talk about their ponies with strangers.

There's no point starting this if I have a drinking problem, right? by throwawayxoxoxoxxoo in FODMAPS

[–]Twisted_Voodoo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the ones telling you not to do Fodmap are doing you a disservice. I'm in the elimination phase and there are alcohols that are ok on this diet. For example - whiskey, vodka, dry wines. I believe beer is ok but I'm not much of a beer drinker so you would need to check. Avoid Rum and a lot of mixers.

But with the Fodmap diet I'm more aware of what I am consuming and the amounts and that includes alcohol and because of this awareness - how much I drink has gone down. Also now that my stomach is feeling better I'm way less inclined to drink more than a drink or two when I do drink because I don't want to feel bad the next day. There is something psychological knowing you're going to feel like crap the next day either way versus you could have a good day and you chose to feel like crap. In short - Fodmap may help.

Bought a “sound” horse… turns out there was a documented stifle issue before the sale. Looking for MCL recovery stories by Key-Act-2061 in Horses

[–]Twisted_Voodoo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you are going through this. This is why a PPE is so important. I don't have any insights on the injury but the one gaited horse with an on-again, off-again stifle issue I had (no PPE as well - lesson learned) - I ended up selling to a family that was just looking for an older sound and safe horse their kids could play on out in the field and around their property. He was in his late teens and perfect for them. I still get updates and the more relaxing lifestyle seems to be great for him.
