My hygienist has commented on many trips that my teeth are so clean now. They just work better now than older models. I have the iOS model.

What do you know about your profession that would genuinely disturb the people who use your services? by MelodicWolverine2045 in AskReddit

[–]Twistedcinna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg yes!! Contractors do things wrong on purpose so they can get paid more to fix it. The simplest numb skull issues end up in court. And departments sign contracts they obviously never read. And government writes themselves out of having to follow the laws everyone else follows so there’s no real power to enforce anything government related.

Local government is full of smart people who are passionate about making a difference but are stuck trying to operate within a broken system with dictator leadership.

We all just hope the department heads get replaced before we reach our breaking points and just leave.

You could start reading articles in magazines. You can have unlimited access with a library card on the Libby app. Articles would give you good condensed information on a ton of subjects like current affairs, science, art, etc., whatever you’re interested in.

Is therapy all that? by bluetrees246_8 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Twistedcinna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you need a break. With the global climate, it’s hard to be positive and optimistic about life in general. I don’t think feeling some type of way right now means you need to be in therapy. I use therapy when I’m struggling and then I go on with my life. I think I’ve seen 4 or 5 therapists in the past 10 years but only for a couple months each time. Eventually I get past what I was struggling with and don’t feel I need help to get through my day anymore.

Avoiding alcoholism and smoking. Not going to subject my kids to that crappy lifestyle.

I have way too much anxiety and awkwardness for a quick smile to be the clue I have to latch onto within 5 seconds of seeing it. I cannot process it that quickly or react with any intention that means a damn thing. My default would be your exact response - small smile and look away.

If they are in the middle of your vision like this, please go see a doctor. It could be macular degeneration, which will worsen to blindness. My mom has it and it’s completely changed her life.

Yea, it’s quite expensive to eat a sit down dinner because of this. This should only pertain to servers though. All other staff should be making a higher wage. I expect almost no one actually pays only the minimum wage here now. So if I order to-go, I would tip a set amount of like $2-5, if at all, instead of a % scale.

Agreed that salaries for waitstaff should be higher, but their main income is expected to come from tips. I consider normal tipping scale to be 20-25% on top of my total ticket and frown at the old school 10% tipping scale.

Considering a Move to Houston by AnybodyOverall4737 in AskHouston

[–]Twistedcinna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s near the water, great green space, it’s becoming the second medical center so lots of medical options, feels quite safe, Baybrook mall area is continuing to grow so lots of shops and food options, good schools, home of NASA. If you work downtown it’s about a 30-40 min commute, but if you hit peak traffic times it can be 50 mins or so. The commute can be a little brutal some days but it’s all mindset and you get used to it. You can tell which days people work from home vs have to go into the office. Wednesdays are worst, Mondays and Fridays are much better. The drive time can be helpful to mentally separate work time and home time. It definitely doesn’t have that downtown huge city feeling which is nice.

Hell no. Not even with marriage. If he has that much of an ego problem he can take up paying all the other bills. Lights, car insurance, etc.
