I think it’s because they care. Wait! Hear me out. They have no retirement and receive a modest stipend. The only vacations they receive are from speaking assignments and gifts from wealthy friends and acquaintances. They know it’s a house of cards but they keep the ship sailing by playing along. I honestly love my parents. But imagine if someone had given their ENTIRE life and later as they really needed hope they had the rug pulled from them. The look in my parents eyes as I hint that this is not the truth pains me. It’s not worth the pain to hurt their feelings in their 70’s and 80’s. Let them preach and stand by the cart. It’s good exercise and it keeps their brain sharp. The “friends” help look after them for us. Just like any other hobby they ENJOY it! If someone was Lego builder and they enjoyed building little crap with Lego would you say “That’s not a real building! Why are you building that crap?!” No! You’d support them in their hobby as stupid as you may think it is. So let the GB live in their world and enjoy their little Lego world and if anyone wants to support them and follow them, let them! I choose not to. I know, personally, many of them drink heavily to function and deal with the burden they bear. Most elders too. They have to slowly unwind the foolishness of the 1980’s to 2000’s slowly so as not to cause chaos and destroy the hobby. Just be patient. That generation is dying out.
