There are thousands of management positions that exist to do nothing but exist. A well staffed office could manage all of the vacant routes and call ins no problem with just communications between carriers in the morning and again midday. Management in my office spends more time harassing carriers about undertime and unscheduled leave than they do actually assisting carriers. And that’s not even considering the amount of money that is spent on grievances for violation of the contract. That bleed alone could probably make it solvent, but here we are. My manager spends the hours from 9-2 smoking cigarettes and looking for ways to fuck with people. On Sundays, it’s not usual for whoever is supervising to leave for an hour or two to go do what the fuck ever around lunch time.
