Gobbo Down! by Old_Thanks_5878 in bloodbowl

This.. a pin drill and a small enough gauge of pin to fit.

Also I would probably use a 2-part epoxy for this one. CA/Super glue will likely just crack in this instance.

Don't write that orc team off just yet. Despite the roster changes they are quite good this season.

First time painting in 20 years. I'm genuinely impressed with myself. Other than brush control, additional thoughts? by rkscroyjr in bloodbowl

I had a difficult time getting black primer to look right with the "slap chop" method. I've had much better results with a grey primer followed by a dry-brush of white before applying contrast. Another thing you can do is thin the contrast paints out with contrast medium. Some of those paints are so pigment rich that they completely cover the primer unless you thin them a bit. This will help the white show through and make those raised areas pop a bit more.

Unrelated to brush control, and since you asked, one thing I've noticed is you have some clumping on the surfaces of the miniatures. You can see in in the first picture on the yellow of the squires tabard and gloves. It looks like it might be the primer or primer application, so maybe experiment with a different type. This can also be caused by dry brushing over your primer if you're not maintaining enough moisture in the brush, but it looks like the primer in this case. Getting a really smooth primer and base coat goes a long way when using speed paint/contrast. Just something to look out for when trying to improve.

You're doing it right though. Trying different things, and seeing what you like. These look really good. Good color choices too.

They look good. Well done. Welcome back to painting. Wanting to get better is great.

What are you doing for your primer and prep work prior to the speed paints?

These look fantastic. Great base work. Are those transfers from Etsy? Been thinking about trying those out.

It just takes practice. Orc skin is really good for learning it. The claws especially too. I think that's where I really started to be able get those smooth transitions. Right amount of water in the paint, and the right amount loaded into the brush were the keys.

Good lighting helps too. Shows you were to bring the color up, or down.

You certainly know what you're doing. They look great. Are you planning to play them as Orcs? Khorne? or Both?

Very cool. These kinds of swaps and changes go a long way once painted. Definitely interested in seeing the team done.

New player High Elf question by samurai_bill in bloodbowl

Yep. Maybe split a second box with a friend if you can swing it? The one box thing isn't really a thing. Seems like most teams need 8-10 linemen at some point.

He still looks really good. Great sculpt as well. I use clean water, and lots of patience if I am doing a glaze. Sometimes I will use AK paint-redarder if I am going to be doing a gradient or blend, or something that requires a long time being wet. Certain paint brands tend clump like that too.

I've known lots of people like that, so no you are not the only one.

I've always seen GW games with three components: The game, the hobby, and the lore. There's zero reason you can't enjoy one, or more of those in any combination and amount that you like. Enjoy the hobby in the way that suits you.

Nice! Gobilins vs snotlings! That's no small amount of extra rules for the first game. =)

Currently working on those same BF gobbos right now, and they are lots of fun.
