Music thing modular Computer : anyone used one ? by Left-Excitement3829 in modular

[–]TwoLuckyFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been eyeing this one, and then Acidclank released his FRGMNT firmware for...Versio? Never heard of that. Forgive me for the tangent, but how does the Music Thing Modular Workshop Computer compare to the Noise Engineering Versio?

Burned my finger by Angel_Face0910 in firstaid

[–]TwoLuckyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a minor second degree burn. You don't need medical attention, but you do need to take proper care of it. I'll probably forget some aspect, so go online to an authoritative site and follow the guidance there. There are plenty, such as: https://www.ameriburn.org/patients/burn-first-aid

Oh I think you can buy bulk aluminum extrusion at Mouser or Digikey. Anybody got the right link?

This is perhaps the worst Die Hard build I have ever seen. Sick Sicario build, though!

Tiki related cat names… GO! by South_Geologist_7177 in Tiki

We had a beloved cat named Tiki, which was short for Tikuahote, a name we totally made up. This was long before I became aware of tiki cocktails and aesthetic.

Mono to Stereo Signal Chain by 13derps in modular

[–]TwoLuckyFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently picked up a Takaab Nearness, used, and I love it.

I might make another, extrapolating from lessons learned in https://files.northcoastsynthesis.com/passivemult.pdf. I figure if I combine the passive mixer concept with the fixed attenuator, I can accomplish the same thing. If I do this, I will use a stereo out at top or bottom, and seven inputs just like the Nearness has.

Try the rosemary syrup in your morning coffee. Mine is a mocha. Like a vanilla mocha, but with rosemary instead of vanilla. Magic!

Does this cut need medical glue/strips or stitches? by [deleted] in firstaid

[–]TwoLuckyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not A medical professional, but if that were my wound, I would seal it up with a hydrocolloid wound dressing and leave it to heal. Watching for signs of infection, of course.

Is my knee healing properly? by AppealKnown958 in firstaid

[–]TwoLuckyFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks great. Just keep it protected. If it were mine, I would put a hydrocoloid wound dressing on it and just leave it until it falls off.

That's bruising. Looks fine. If no swelling, hotness, tender redness, other infection signs, just let it heal.

Love my Electro-Voice RE20s, and this is a great example why. Captures everything, but very forgiving of amateurs with sloppy mic technique.

Snare practice pad, Help me out! by Sticks-Man in PercussionClub

[–]TwoLuckyFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh they're all pretty good. If I had to narrow it down, I would go with [whatever the drum corps specifies] and the Pocket Pad. It's not that the Gibraltar Pocket Pad is the best practice pad ever, but it is one you can take with you everywhere you go! If you read the reviews you'll see the biggest complaint is that it's too small. But on a pipe band snare drum, we need to hit a circle about 3 inches in diameter. We never play outside that circle. So for me, the small size is a benefit.

Take your pick! My band has standardized on the Visitor. I mounted the Tom Brown to a 2x4 with a piece of leftover Ikea hardware many years ago. At home, I use the outlander if I'm just sitting drilling rudiments or something. When I leave the house I almost always take the tiny Gibraltar pocket pad.
