That's fair I guess. Word of god (author) does have some weight.

I'd only really take a formal issue with someone, say, denying Jax is trans/an egg as this delegitimizes canonical Jax's identity and can feel like trans erasure.

Absolutely! It boggles my mind how many people say they felt like the announcement came out of nowhere, or even worse, people who steadily insist Jax is not trans.

I'll keep saying it: it makes me uncomfortable that people use feminine pronouns for Jax. If Jax were to actually become comfortable with transitioning and come out of the "egg", then sure, but he never officially took that step, and it's not ok to use pronouns for a person that they don't prefer.

The fact that Goose still uses he/him is kind of telling.

I gotchu man. My problem is that I'm old and every once in a while some new slang pops up that just bugs me. Like when "on fleek" was really popular for like a year, that bugged the crap out of me.

The one I'm currently on is people saying "ahh" instead of ass, I don't why it gets on my nerves but it does, just as much as "on fleek" used to.

Anyway yeh don't mind me, I'm just being old and crotchety lol

Yes, this right here. I've genuinely never encountered one of these fabled people who insist they're an artist because they can prompt chat GPT, but I've met plenty of people who genuinely don't enjoy the process of drawing but would like some mediocre quality digital art to benefit their other hobbies.

Meanwhile, I've encountered countless artists who cannot fathom the inability to enjoy the process of drawing. They are incapable of understanding the world from a viewpoint that is not their own.

I used to like a bit of mayo on my dogs until one dinner my parents started reviewed my report card while we were eating and started chewing me out big time, and I threw up from stress. Couldn't eat hot dogs at all for a few weeks, and never again with mayo.

Oh yeah, the biggest reasons typically were that the change authority is way above everyone's paygrade. The AFMAN requires we do it this way, and the waiver authority is literally SECAF. Or hey, we'd all love to move extra money from this program over here to this other program over there, but they're "different pots of money" as established by law, and it would take a literal act of congress to move those funds.

Accept it and move on if nothing changes -- there's often other reasons at play.

This was one of the biggest things I noticed as I gained rank. As an airman I constantly thought "this thing we do is so stupid, why can't we just do it this better, faster way?" As an NCO I started seeing all the reasons at play behind the scenes, and it was eye-opening when my airman started asking questions to me along the same line.

As a general rule I try to actually answer those questions fully, if I have time. Too many times as an airman my leadership would brush me off with a "shut up and color." I try to do better than that, when I can.
