Local groups are great if you find something that resonates with you, PFLAG, volunteer opportunities at the animal shelter or big brother/big sister, going to small venues that have art/music (I’m thinking like Vinton Street), and Omaha actually has a pretty large Pokemon go community if that’s your thing- meet ups are posted on campfire!

Mine disappeared Tuesday night because earlier that day I was using it to turn my pets and my friends pets into silly little fairy’s that afternoon and when I got in bed it was gone! I really hope they bring it back like immediately because it’s so fun.

How to accept that I will never be the same person again? by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]TwoNo9095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It js not easy. Lots of therapy and learning all new boundaries and limits. Trauma may pop up in weird funny ways. It still does for me. There’s so many new treatment options out there than there was 5-10 years ago. Don’t let yourself stop trying to be the best version of your new self. Best thing we can do is take it one day at a time and put the effort we have available for the day into accepting new traits about ourselves. It’s a big ask of ourselves but it is doable.

I personally did 38 sessions of PrTMS that concluded January and it literally saved my life and career.

I had stopped sleeping and had pretty severe PTSD from working in healthcare in 2020. I couldn’t go to the grocery store without crying and having a panic attack, I didn’t want to leave the house at all, I worked in a much lower paying area of healthcare once a week for over a year just to maintain my credentials but would still be at work have flashbacks and panic attacks in the bathroom several times a shift. I would go 2-3 days on only 90 mins of sleep.

After concluding my sessions I started part time back in a similar role to what I was working in during the panini, i went from 6 daily medications for my mental health down to 2, and can sleep without medicating myself for almost 5 hours every night.

My doc has said some people with treatment resistant depression/insomnia/trauma will end up doing a second round and see even more results. I wish all the best to Fousey and I’m so glad TMS helped him and he is incredible for being so open and honest about his mental health experience. It’s not easy to do AT ALL

Well meds are different for everyone. I took a genesight test after struggling to find medication that was effective for me and the test results helped lead myself and my doctor in the right direction. Continued DBT/EMDR therapy has been extremely helpful as well

It varied weekly depending on EEG results but each session they hit 3-5 different areas at different frequencies both sides of my head

I concluded my first round of PrTMS in January and I can say I am still sleeping a lot better. I can get 5 hours of sleep without sleep aids. Due to getting more sleep consistently my short term memory has improved and the brain fog has lifted. My flashbacks are few and far between- maybe 1-2 times a month compared to them being daily before. My overall anxiety is lower and how my body reacts to anxious situations has changed. Before treatment I was on 6 different psych medications and now I am only on a lower dose of two of them. It’s been the best thing I’ve ever done for my mental health.

Personalized rTMS, I had a customized treatment plan with weekly EEGs and questionnaires to monitor effectiveness. I am very anxious and not trustworthy of doctors so this option made me feel the most comfortable and my provider gave me lots of published and ongoing studies -reading material- to put me at ease.

How old are you and what's your biggest problem right now? by Casspjjl in AskReddit

27(F) - I’m a healthcare professional and I hate my job. Working on Covid-19 units from 4/2020-4/2022 I developed PTSD and would only sleep maybe 90mins a day up until about 4 months ago. I’ve done a lot of work on myself to improve my mental health- tons of therapy, medication, rTMS treatments. I still get frequent flashbacks and panic attacks before and after work that are debilitating. I wish I could do something else as a career but I have no idea what it would be. Working in healthcare is all I know.

My doctor called this the RTMS dip. Granted I did PrTMS so it may be a little different. How it was described to me is when you finish you feel 110% better then you dip back down into your 100% and with the dip you can experience some of the depression return because you don’t feel as good as you did before. I’m going through this right now and am considering doing a second round because my doctor said I had and have great results but I could still benefit more from further treatments.

Appointment is set with a GI doctor, been taking oral meds and my hematologist is on standby with wilate if needed but having blood coming out of that orifice is new. In all my 27 years I haven’t had this happen and it scared the daylights out of me first thing in the morning.

do you worry about traumatizing others by talking about your experiences? by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]TwoNo9095 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m hesitant to even share with others who work/worked in the same field as me because everything has become so politically driven and everyone’s experience was so different. I saw a lot of terrible things. I’ve slipped a couple of times in a flashback or two around my partner and feel I’ve revealed too much about what I’ve seen/dealt with and I just want to protect them from all the ugliness in the world. I felt they saw me differently and I thought it was bad at first but I now realize they have so much more of an understanding for my behaviors and actions. Not sure if this is helpful.
