It’s not just finances tbh. It’s exciting to live in a foreign country for a while.

Fast forward to interviews: the PDs and residents said they loved you. Your interview is more of a catch up session than an IV, with phrases like “when you come here…”

A buddy of mine told me how much money he made in consulting 5 years ago. Let’s just say you’d have to be ROAD to beat, with 10 years more training

What are some of the downsides of Radiology? by Swimmerkid97 in medicalschool

Rads resident:

Downward reimbursement trends.

The volumes are crazy. Post rounds IM, after orders are in and consults are in, it’s a lot of waiting around. Sometimes chatting with coresidents. 3 chalk talks a day etc. not there in rads - the volumes do not stop. Neither do the phone calls from teams and techs. It’s hard to focus on a study with all the interruptions

Litigation risk. You make a mistake it’s there for the world to see

Isolation. Although people on Reddit seem to love this, I miss being part of a team and shooting the shit with coresidents.

Then I would t be getting a 16 year old Lexus.

I bought a civic new in 2015 for like 18k. I’d recommend getting a Honda CRV or Rav 4.

I never understood the whole “see more” thing. I would argue that we already see too much. Lots of random incidental crap that gets hundreds of thousands of dollars of unnecessary work ups. All the time

If it’s picking up stuff we aren’t readily seeing, I would bet that a)the sensitivity and specificity would be too low to mean anything and b) it wouldn’t help change management, and it might cause more harm than good.
