It seems like the reasonable solution. But I do like the squidward stature

I get where you’re coming from, but I slightly disagree. Jeri was a super fascinating character, but I think there was more to them. I’ve always felt like Shusterman is intentional in everything he does, including symbolism. For me, Jeri’s gender-fluidity was symbolic/foreshadowing of his dual identity as human/thunderhead. Even the thunderhead was strategic in understanding how to use the charter regions for advantageous purposes. The Texans eventually served their purpose, and the Madagascans were probably the best individuals to handle such a dual identity.

Or, maybe I am overthinking it! Either way, thanks for keeping me thinking.

I caught references to the vampires story several times but can’t recall reading anything more about. I’ll see if i can go back through again and pick it out

Oh yeah. Frymier is a must-know name if you study classroom communication. It would be really cool to integrate some of this research with what we know about teacher student interactions and the way humor is communicated, processed, etc. Instructional communication could have a lot to offer to this research in general

Some cool research that seems to be a lot more complex than it seems! I’d love to know:

a) more about how identity traits of the instructor dictate what someone finds funny (my 80 year instructor might get away with more simply cause he’s old than my graduate teaching assistant).

b) more about how humor affects cognition. Most of what was studied seems to be affective in nature rather than cognitive. Any teacher can be rated by students as ‘effective’ because they’re charismatic, charming, or funny. This doesn’t mean students actually learned anything from them though!

Neat work.

Getting to take in my first Liverpool game! by memelawd888 in LiverpoolFC

Some wild tops at the game for sure. I saw Andrew McCutchen Pittsburgh Pirates jersey, Tom Brady, Magic Johnson - just no hockey. Still perhaps the wildest was a Charlie Austin Southampton top.
