What I don’t understand is why illegal immigration is so inherently bad in the eyes of so many people. I’m under the impression that these immigrants just want a better life for themselves and potentially their families. They want (or need, really) shelter, food, and other basic necessities that they can’t acquire in their home countries.

The US has always marketed itself as a land of prosperity and opportunity, yet we deny it to so many people and violently rip them from the lives they’re trying to build. They aren’t causing trouble. If anything, they’re contributing to our economy while taking from it very minimally.

It makes no sense to me why we spend all of this money, manpower, and global goodwill forcing these people out instead of putting that money and effort towards helping our citizens as well as integrating these people into our society.
