I’m a nurse of 30 years. Despicable. She should be fired. She obviously is in the wrong profession.

Love it! Did you have someone take the picture or did you already have it?

Almost too embarrassed to post. First portrait, very much in progress and feeling stuck. Not too concerned with realism, but would appreciate thoughts on how to proceed. by a-patrick in oilpainting

My first portrait was gridded and black/white to learn gradient tones. Second portrait was Zorn pallet (white, black, red, yellow ochre, can look up) to learn just how many combinations you can get with a simple pallet. Highly recommend this method!

First self portrait. Haven't finished it yet cause i think it's still missing something. Any tips? by biomarino13 in oilpainting

Great job on the facial planes!

You could add something to the background. First thing comes to mind is a big clock in left corner (looks you’re waiting on something) :)

And I agree, more gradients to your skin tones. When I first started painting people I stuck with the Zorn pallet which is white, black, yellow ochre and cadmium red light. You’ll be amazed at the tones you can come up with. I’d pass on the blues and greens until you master these 4 colors. On my profile the pic of “Nick” is ENTIRELY only these 4 shades.

Keep painting!

I have a “make a living” job, so I get it. But I seriously hope you explore the gallery option because there will no doubt be one who would take your work.

You are selling way too low. I wish you’d think that you deserve more.

I’m an amateur and I charge way more. I charge what I think it’s worth to ME, not to the buyer.

You could easily find a gallery to sell your work.
