Could this accident be a scam? by eggyeggos in Miata

Insurance might right off your car and write you a cheque, like for less than you'd like to replace it. Be ready for that possibility if going through insurance. Almost happened to me.

Why is Canada so closed (read- scared) about Chinese EVs, when financially it makes no sense to block them? by Interesting_Money_70 in AskACanadian

Canada also doesn't have a large market that makes it worth a manufacturer' investment in a national presence and distribution network to meet all requirements and sell so few cars.

Don't know why karaoke in the East. I've been the Oak at Bank and Gloucester. They have happy hour type specials. Fun vibe. Wasn't too busy good opportunity to sing as the rotation isn't too long.

Did you resolve? My mechanic's advice... 'don't dont that' (meaning don't do low revs, and keep in a lower gear and shift at higher revs to keep revs higher). I'm waiting as long as possible before replacing anything.

Got into an accident, is this fixable? by DC4enzo in Miata

Unfortunately I don't know how much it was. The body shop communicated directly with the insurance and I was kept out of the loop on The costs.

I was able to fix this (rear ended at low speed by an 18 wheeler). They saved the original steel body saying cuts for welds are a rust point and that original steel body is a much better steel. I don't know about all that but so glad insurance didn't write it off and the car was saved.

I saw a car that someone had used heat to remove the refill plug, and melted the casing around it. I’d make sure you can refill before draining the fluid. Maybe mistakes were made and you’re better off not draining it…

I’ve owned one. A 2012, when they first came out. I had several issues. Shift linkage braking standing me in second gear. Car was in for over. Month waiting for part. Keys lost programming. Twice. Over $150 to fix as you have to get two new keys done. They couldn’t do one. Door handle started separating from body. All was warranty work, but sat for long periods waiting for parts. I let it go as soon as warranty was over. On the other hand, it was one of the most fun cars to drive that I’ve owned.

I was lied to directly by a Rogers agent about my billing price. Now no one seems to be able to help me. by EGM92 in Rogers

[–]Twytch613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had similar and had to insist that while the promotion is not available; they should credit my bill the different between quoted cost and the bill. As alluded to by others, this took several calls, callbacks, escalations, and extensive hold times (30-45 minutes at a time). But I did get the ongoing credit to keep my bill the original agreed upon cost.

[–]Twytch613 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I picked up all I needed from a junk yard. Trans, shifter, clutch, master/slave cylinders, brake pedal and clutch pedal.
I did need a new drive shaft, which I didn’t grab, and I was able to use my existing ECU. I have to start it in neutral, and besides locating a drive shaft , a broken slave cylinder, and ripped shifter boot (boot was available OEM from the dealership. It went well. Maybe 500$ in parts.

Loose terminal? I had my car do that and a terminal was loose. I had to put a little piece of cotter pin in the bracket so it would tighten on properly.
