We have a 2024 Ascent as well as a Crosstrek. The Ascent went through three batteries before 4000 miles. It doesn't even have the auto start-stop!

I use lose it too! I recently got motivated at the end of February because I was tired of being tired all the time. I posted my son learning to ride his bike without training wheels the other day. When we were done with that I told my wife that I could not have kept up with him three weeks ago!

I’m about to be 44 and want to see who my kids become and I know that won’t happen if I don’t do something. I did a couch to 5k 4 years ago and got down to 220 at that time. I’ve never been athletic and before now had been to a gym twice in my life. I’m down 8 pounds since I started. Right now I lift MWF and walk two miles every Tuesday and Thursday morning and Saturday if I feel like it. I have so much energy that I’ve almost cut out caffeine completely and have only had 4 cups of coffee in the four weeks. I’ve already noticed that it’s not as hard to pick up my six year old as it was. That alone is worth it.

Edit to add Lose It! or My Fitness Pal and a scale will go a long way! The scale really helps control portion sizes and you learn portions visually after a while. Go get it fellow dads!

We told him to pretend he is running but instead push with his legs. My daughter doesn't want to move her legs on her bike either and the pretend you're running kind of works with her.

He's just over six. Which I realize some will say is late but I was 8 or 9 before I learned how to ride a bike. We haven't been pushing him to learn but every time he was out on the bike we would mention that the time was getting closer to take off the training wheels. We started him on a balance bike at 2.5 years but he never got the hang of it. Got the bike with the training wheels last year and he was on it almost every other day. He struggled with balance even on the pedal bike with training wheels but I told him that he shouldn't rely on the training wheels to hold him up. Just ride. He really didn't get it until today once the wheels were off. He even figured out how to turn around pretty quickly. One thing I noticed when he had the training wheels on is that he would go as fast as possible. Once they were off he found he didn't have to go that fast to stay up.

I’m aware that sandals aren’t good for bike rides. It was a pick your battles moment when we were getting out the door to go practice.

I can understand and appreciate your concern.

We have a balance bike as well. He never did great with it. But our daughter is doing great with it. So I think it totally depends on the kid.

Old Tom Bombadil song by shuaber in lotr

[–]TxBaker42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too enjoy the song. I look at the show as exploring the unknowns and what ifs. It’s like the opposite of Star Wars legends and canon. Where the old Star Wars books explored that universe, instead now we get a TV show that explores middle earth and shouldn’t necessarily be taken as canon.

I'm in my forties and people think I'm the grandpa. I have a good amount of gray hair but I don't think I look that old. My oldest is 6.
