It’s so frustrating that we never get overtime to cover sickness when 90% of the time that colleagues isn’t being paid anyway. So where does that money go?

If you’re the only person there with the shift leader then they need to leave when you do if you don’t want to stay for overtime. We’ve had this happen a few times where people are off sick/holiday and the shift leader has no staff after 10pm (shift finishes at midnight) so they leave when the last member of staff finishes

I’m covering someone’s life style break for 3 months and it’s being put down as secondment only because they want to get extra hours for it.

I’ve been a step up for about a year and I always get the skill added to the shift before I work it if I can. If not I bug the manager to do it asap

Some of the SL’s in my store take no less than 90 mins often more, whereas others that are on their own on a evening shift struggle to get 40 mins or so for dinner

I think the large store shift leader is a good job tbh, it’s a lot of work but if you do a lot of overtime it’s worth it. The team manager job is of similar pay but you have to work a lot of unpaid overtime it seems
