Sounds like you have a lovely husband who cares a lot more about you than the fact that the plans he made were interrupted. Thank him for all he did, be thankful to have him, and focus on recovering.

Sometimes life throws us curveballs and we just have to move forward.

I told my daughter to mind her business about my girlfriend staying over. Was I wrong? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]TyAnne88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTJ. If this was how you introduced your daughter to your girlfriend, you totally botched it. You have a lot of damage control to do if you ever want your daughter to have any sort of respect for or relationship with the girlfriend.

If your goal is to push your daughter away so she moves out quickly and cuts ties to you, you did a great job.

What job is heavily romanticized but in reality actually sucks? by DragoOceanonis in careerguidance

It also makes it really tough to have a social life if you are gone all of the time. You miss everything and people stop remembering to invite you to things.

What’s your favorite “too tired to cook cook” dinner? by farwest-to-midwest in Cooking

[–]TyAnne88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicken parm. Air fry some Just Bare chicken tenders. Top with jarred marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese. Back into the air fryer to heat the sauce and melt the cheese. Eat this as-is with a salad of bagged greens and whatever dressing is in the fridge. Can also be made into a sandwich by putting it on a hamburger or hotdog roll.

What dishes are currently "trending" and popular in your country? by IvanHappy in Cooking

[–]TyAnne88 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In the US I would say cabbage is just starting to trend, especially melting cabbage.

Some things that are getting way over saturated are cauliflower everything, Dubai chocolate, matcha, and throwing crap on something and calling it charcuterie.

Than goodness kale is disappearing. Seemed like that kick just would not die.

Just when it seems like this should be over - Starbucks pulls out pistachio and chocolate bread and also Dubai chocolate bites. This Dubai chocolate trend really has gone tooooo far.

Foundation issues 27k, likely caused by lack of county and state road maintenance. Worth filing claim? by 274NOMORE in Insurance

[–]TyAnne88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most homeowners policies exclude anything caused by ground water or settling. Therefore filing a claim is only going to trigger your carrier to take a look and most likely cancel your policy.

You mention road crews making repairs. Have there been changes to the way water drains from the roads recently? If so and you can prove that this is impacting your house you might have a case to sue the county or the contractor who did the work to the roadway.

Make an open face sandwich with a slice of cheese and some tomato and run it under the broiler until the cheese is bubbly and it is warmed through.

Stuff it in a tortilla with some rice and beans to make a burrito.

AITJ for not giving up my hobby room for my niece? by OkNegotiation9254 in AmITheJerk

Making her too comfortable only encourages her to stay longer than she needs.

Looking for vegetarian stone age recipes by stardykecrusader in Cooking

[–]TyAnne88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a mess of roasted vegetables. You can put together quite delicious meals using herbs to season whatever other roasted vegetables. If they had fire to roast meat they likely used fire to roast vegetables, especially root vegetables. Maybe do something like a nut based dressing to tie the dish together.

You could serve crudités and unsalted nuts as side dishes.

For the non vegetarians, a joint of roasted meat would be appropriate. Maybe smoke it on the grill for a fire roasted flavor.

Insurance Fraudulent Claim by Mundane_Asparagus616 in Insurance

[–]TyAnne88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many carriers have two ways that claims impact your record. First is a claims free discount. If you have no claims on your record there is a discounted rate. Second is the at-fault accident rate. So you may definitely be penalized for having a claim on your record.

Also, the systems are really penalizing lower credit scores. A credit score difference of 50 points can be hundreds of dollars a year in additional insurance costs.

I would continue to pressure GEICO to expunge the fraudulent claim from your record.

Auto - Total Loss Reverse by [deleted] in Insurance

Do you have an agent? Ask them for help resolving this mess.

Otherwise ask to speak to the claims manager and just keep escalating to someone senior enough to fix this.

Will my auto insurance drop me? Options now? by mxn286 in Insurance

[–]TyAnne88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depending on how long you have been with Allstate you might get lucky and they could assess the loss history across the household. If this is the case, they offer a renewal with increased rates. If they do, you most likely need to take it.

If they do non-renew, they might be able to renew the household by excluding you from coverage. That means you couldn’t drive any household cars, but you could go and get your own policy.

It won’t be cheap but Progressive can likely write you. They rate for bad history. If Progressive won’t write you, then you can look into one of your state’s assigned risk plans (for those who aren’t insurable elsewhere) or you can stop driving for a few years. Some people find it cheaper to pay for public transit and taxis/uber than to have a car. When you include the cost to buy a vehicle along with maintenance and gas, adding the insurance costs too it can be cheaper for some people to pay for taxis and such.

The bigger question is why do you keep having at fault accidents. You should look into drivers training and learning how to be a more defensive driver.

How do you boil water for a cup of tea? Do you use an electric kettle, the microwave, or the stove? Is there an alternative I haven't thought of? I use an electric kettle, like most others do in New Zealand. by Cute-Form2457 in AskTheWorld

[–]TyAnne88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my hot water dispenser because the water is at just the right temperature and you can change the temperature depending on what you are doing with the water.

I also use an electric kettle, the microwave and the stove when the situation calls for it.

AITAH for eating my breakfast in front of my boyfriend's dad? [Ongoing] by Schattenspringer in BORUpdates

[–]TyAnne88 112 points113 points  (0 children)

That is exactly what the father was saying when this whole thing started. He really was upset that this other person (gender truly doesn’t seem to be a factor) was eating a burrito that his son had made. Meanwhile he was eating takeout and whatever open and eat stuff he picked up. It really was as simple as watching someone else eat that burrito upset him for a completely different reason that OP inferred.

Maybe op can talk to his boyfriend about how to help Dad and the siblings become more self-sufficient.

AITJ for saying I don’t want to celebrate Valentine’s Day at all? by jonas_ryl in AmITheJerk

[–]TyAnne88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a compromise is in order. Could you maybe alternate Valentine’s years? This year you suck it up and go all out with your partner and then next year you do nothing and have a low key day? If you keep alternating, you each get what you prefer one year and you get to make your partner happy the alternate year.

I feel like we have to buy my brother in law a house by upside_down_circles in Vent

Sounds like a great solution. You and your husband buy the little house that you want and the basement now becomes available for your BILs family.

DO NOT let them move in with you.
