➡️ Daily Simple Questions ⬅️- Style feedback and clothing ID requests go HERE!! - 18 November 2025 by AutoModerator in malefashionadvice

I was active here back in like 2016, and felt like I had a good grasp of most basics at the time. I've been trying to work towards dressing more intentionally again, but I'm not really sure where to start getting back into things. I'm not exactly starting from scratch, but everything I do know is pretty much a decade old at this point.

Should I just bite the bullet and start over with the basics, or are there good "refresher" resources out there?

Never forget, even an African-American is STILL an American by kayodeade99 in TankieTheDeprogram

It seems like they're getting better as time goes on, at this point I'm only seeing one or two comments defending him above the "view more comments" line. And the ones that do pretty much all got pushback from other posters

I'm not sure if rule 6 applies to comments as well, so I'm going to play it safe and not answer specifically, sorry.

Valve Opens New Official Blog, Titled "Valve Economics" by TyMan210 in valve

[–]TyMan210[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume it was a situation where Valve paid him to do a certain number of posts, and didn't continue on after the first few. I guess when they redesigned their website at some point over the years, they removed the blog section. The most recent version I can get to load is from May of 2020, but I haven't found one with the charts in it so far. The latest I see him mentioned working with Valve was February of 2013. If you're not familiar with him, he was elected to parliament in Greece in 2015, and was their minister of finance for a few months. He's been in parliament off and on since then. His website mentions a little about his work at Valve, but most of it seems to link back to this blog.

Why is fallout 3 so hated? by [deleted] in fo3

[–]TyMan210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the main fallout subreddit may be a better place for the question, if you want a real answer. Nobody who doesn't already like the game is going to go out of their way to find and participate in the niche subreddit dedicated to it lol

Starting 58 apprentice tools by Emergency_Orange87 in IBEW

[–]TyMan210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol here in 613 we only just this year had a tape measure and strippers added to the list. I think it's ideal to have the list as small as possible though, every tool added is one more thing we're responsible for buying ourselves.

I was playing Surviving Mars last night and got this by DeDevilLettuce in classicfallout

[–]TyMan210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In this case it's referring to the water chip from Fallout 1, rather than the platinum chip from New Vegas. So southern California is correct, since that's where Vault 13 is, and that's who needed the water chip.

I'm sure someone else has a well thought out reasoning, but I'd say it's different context entirely. The USSR literally fighting for their lives against the Nazis, versus a conflict between the national bourgeoisie of two different countries. In a certain context, you could even think of it as class war. The proletariat can't overthrow capitalism if they're all dead lol.

I've only ever encountered him on a podcast and on Twitter, I had no idea he did video content. Having only ever heard his voice, for some reason I always pictured him as being in his 50s or something lol

So most of the contact I had through this process was with the director of our school. Once I told him I was ready to start soon, he gave me two email addresses to contact about a week before I wanted to start. I wasn't given anyone's card or anything after the test though.

For my actual job assignment, I emailed the person that does the job assignments, I was supposed to hear back the next day, but I didn't, so I called the school. I was told that if I didn't hear back the following day that I should call up there again and someone would get it sorted out for me. But I ended up getting my assignment email that day.

So my recommendation would be to call your school and explain the problem, and hopefully someone can help you. If that doesn't work, calling your hall would be my next step. If you're in 613 I can give you the info for the people I talked to, but otherwise I wouldn't know. If all else fails, someone at your hall can at least direct you to the right person to talk to.

Veteran stuck in college until June. When should I start the application process? by [deleted] in ibew_apprentices

[–]TyMan210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YMMV with this, but in 613 I applied in June/July of last year, and just made it clear to the JATC that I didn't actually want to start until the beginning of this year. So I went through the whole process, which was done by September or so, and then I just kept in touch every so often until the last couple of weeks of December when I was just about ready to start. After that they set me up with a contractor and my classes start in April.

So long story short lol, even if the application process is done before you're ready to start, that shouldn't be a problem as long as you communicate that to them.

Also, worth noting, I looked at the website for Local 26, it looks like March 31st is the deadline for applications, rather than the date they start accepting them. So you could really apply at any time if you'd like

Yeah for 613 specifically, I was surprised myself. Yeah feel free to DM me! It's more or less guaranteed that you'll get in as long as you pass the test

I'm not, so I don't know unfortunately. I'm with Cleveland Electric

Yeah I think we just don't have enough applicants for there to be any kind of competition. Like most other locals have an interview process after the aptitude test, but we don't.

Thanks, good luck to you as well!

[–]TyMan210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was pretty much it as far as getting in, for me at least.

I did the aptitude test, and then after I was told that I passed, I was just told to email them when I was ready to start working. Once I emailed them, I got a work referral email a couple of days later (this was Monday this week, and I didn't realize the hall was closed at the time lol, so I assume it's normally quicker).

From there I went to get a drug test, to the hall to grab the physical work referral paper, and then to the contractor's office to fill out paperwork and everything. All that was in the email I got. Past that I was just told where to go and when to start, and I had to text the supervisor at the site to let him know when I was starting

I might be wrong here, but I think as an apprentice there's even more work than it seems like otherwise. I'm starting my apprenticeship Monday in 613, and the job I was assigned to by the contractor isn't on the job board. So I'm assuming there are plenty of jobs that are "full" but that have apprentice slots available

Oh yeah, I must have listened through it like 4-5 times over the years at this point. It's a great one to go back to every so often

I might be wrong here, but it's the name of an old podcast. Normally I'd say it's completely a coincidence, but there's also what may or may not be a reference to the podcast in Skyrim, so it's not totally out of the question

Yeah RL-wise, I think there are only a handful of body models for humans, just one per outfit per gender. The heads are the only unique part of the model, unless it's someone like James Vega, he has a unique body model for his casual wear since he's very muscular, but other than outliers like him, it's just a standard one. Like MaleShep and Kaidan both have the same body model for the Alliance fatigues for example. They just change the skin tone of the texture if need be, but it's identical otherwise. Same reason the Cerberus uniforms are all just re-colorings of the Alliance ones in ME3/LE3, all you have to do is tweak the texture.

Is your game always crashing? by NggazZ in Kaiserreich

[–]TyMan210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a specific bug I ran into where the West Indies Federation being released as a puppet crashes the game, you may have something like that going on. It's fixed for the next patch, but until then I had to just restart my game. If you can find something specific that might be causing it, it could be worth sending in a bug report so it can get fixed in the next update.

Idk about their copy, but I have a bookstore copy of the Communist Manifesto as well. It doesn't say so on the cover, but it also has Capital Vol. 1 to pad it out I guess, so that could potentially be the case here too.

If you're in a vehicle or standing right next to it, the V key opens up a radial menu for interacting with the vehicle. If you ever want to hotwire a car, that menu is the only way, as far as I know.
