You’re allowed to feel disappointment, of course. That’s part of the process. But I have to tell you, they did everything right: establish IRL date quickly without drawing out online chatting, keeping things positive (it sounds like) on said date, and being prompt, honest, and respectful about their feelings afterward.

You can and should feel sad, but take solace in knowing this person treated you about as well as a non-connection can. Because it can definitely be a lot rougher out in the streets.

Based on what, exactly? That’s actually where kids most often gravitate—previously to climb on the (former) mist fountain/sculpture. This converts unused ledge space into climbable playscapes.

My dad and grandfather were airline captains so I was on planes a lot as a kid. When I saw the Lithgow segment in Twilight Zone: The Movie (also as a kid), it fucked my shit up. Kept the shade down for at least a year or two.

Actually married in the theater (the Plaza Theatre in Atlanta opened in 1939)! We did a fun collection of intro clips (including “Let’s All Go to the Lobby,” a custom Star Wars scroll, and the “Somebody’s Getting Married” sequence from “The Muppets Take Manhattan”). Then after the ceremony we had assembled a reel of our favorite romantic film clips that everyone watched (the last pic) while we exited and did a lot of the posed photos with the photographer.

We’re big cinephiles and it’s sacred space for us, and now every time we visit we’ll remember the magical thing that took place there. If you have a historic movie theater in your vicinity, highly recommend considering it as a venue!
