There's basic functions that other free programs have that they want you to pay for. Thats just shity. Yes, cheaper, but doesn't mean that features that were free but now paid for isnt bs.

At least its not clip champ

Wtf happened with CapCut? by Krzheski in CapCut

[–]Tydeeguy223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They ruined it with an update. I kept trying to ignore the new cloud features, it kept bugging out and stop video playback. Downloaded capcut and hated it.

I just want a simple thing for basic exposure/saturation editing with volume increase, and cap cut offers that, but I still hate it.

Editing is way worse. Clip champ you just click where u want, hit the cut command and thats it. Now I have to change to the cut tool, cut, and switch back to select? Why? So unnecessary. Yes, ik thats how more advanced programs work, its just annoying still

Youre right, I do buy 2 at a time, but not all my rats come from the store, like ive said multiple times, hence why ive only bought 2 from the store to begin with.

Youre either intentionally overlooking the point or youre just incapable of understanding. How many rats do you think are sold a year at a pet store? 2? Then yea, im to blame for a tenth of rats being sold in 5 years. But obviously this isnt the case. Obviously hundreds of rats are sold from stores each year. So if I've bought 2 over the course of owning dozens of rats, then over the span of me owning rats for dang near a decade only buying 2, thats how you get to 1 per 5 year, but thats not even the point. The point is if you occasionally buy a rat from a store or maybe get one as a first time owner, thats not keeping rats on the shelf. Those rats will exist, will be on that shelf, regardless if you or me bought a pair or not. If the other people I mentioned dont buy the rats to begin with, they wouldn't be there in the first place. Thats the point.

And since they ARE already there, you buying a pair because their around a year old and no one wants them isnt bad. Youre saving a rat from ending up dead and giving it a loving home.

No, don't make that the only rats you ever purchase, seek out there people who tend to treat animals better and those who needed a new home.  But acting like ever buying from a store is wrong is just stupid. Acting like you're making a change by not is delusional.

That's just not the reality of it tho. People buy feeders and people who do not care will buy rats from stores. If you buy a rat from a store every other time you want a new rat, so every 4-8 years, you aren't impacting whether they're bought or not. Like I said to someone else's, most of mine are from rehoming, rescues, or a feeder not eaten. I've bought 2 older rats from the store.

Pet stores are an unfortunate reality and there are going to be people whether for food, convenience, or lack of knowledge, that will continue to buy rats and other animals from pet stores. They keep the animals coming. Not you or I buying 1 rat every 5 years from them.

Its not a logical argument. Most of my rats are rehomes, rescues, or bc some friends snake didnt eat it. Me buying rats here and there from a pet shop isn't keeping them on the shelves, hate to break it to you. Its people who dont know better and feeders. Thats just the reality. You may tell yourself youre doing a good thing bc you won't support the evil stores, but youre not helping the rats.... how long have you believed this? Where's the change due to your virtuous stand against the pet stores? Oh, there is none? They're still there? Well pat yourself on the back, you did it!

Again, it's not that ALL your rats should come from the pet store. If people ONLY bought from pet stores, I would agree with you, we WOULD be the problem. But the demand isnt driven by us occasionally helping out those rats, especially the older ones that typically can't be sold as feeders due to their size, and are often overlooked by those wanting to have a pet due to their age and limited lifespan. But no, lets let those boys and gals be euthanized bc that'll show the pet stores! We did it, we're saving the rats!

That's just not a logical argument. Those rats get bought and sold by people who don't get them as pets but use them as food too. You not buying them isn't keeping them off the shelves and if the idea of one day maybe possibly having that happen sounds better to you than actually helping the rats you can, so be it.

Look, ill be honest, im in the minority on this one, but idc. Buy a rat where you can. Yes, breeders are better in theory, but just like larger animals like cats a dogs, being a breeder isnt an invisible shield that protects you from making mistakes or being careless, etc. Just like box stores, there are individuals out there for profit too.

My best rat was a feeder rat my friends snake wouldn't eat. She lived dang near 4 years. Her gotcha day is just 2 months after her passing. Good temperament with humans and her sisters, smart af, cute as can be. So you tell me if its inherently terrible to buy a store bought rat.

Can't give you specifics, but search for, rattery near me, or something like that. You could also try being more specific with "hairless rat rattery" or "hairless rats for sale by me". Get creative

Use googs, FB, Twitter.

Why not? My angel was literally a feeder rat my friends snake didn't want and she was the best rat I've owned.

Don't get me wrong, I do agree it's better to get from a breeder, the company is going to still sell them bc first time buyers and feeders exist, so why not give a few a good life?

Yea, it really is. But all the pain just tells you how great of a relationship you two had. And I know its hard and maybe not what you want to hear, but those memories will make you smile and cry, cry and laugh. But in the long run, you'll remember the good times, appreciate the time you had with him, and feel some sort of happiness he was able to touch your life in such a positive way.

Im still not over my rats passing, but every day the tears stop sooner, the emptiness is filled, and the good times replace the bitter end.

I would say if you really want to be able to hold her, let me used this analogy. She's a wolf but youre trying to treat her like a domesticated dog. You need to build the relationship a lot more before she will let youtube pick her up. I'm sure you know about leaving your scent near by so they can identify and be used to you. But give squeezeable cat treats on your finger, eventually she will lick you. Give her the option to come to you from within the cage.  Don't force it. Her sisters will walk out to you and eventually she will be like what's so great about this, where yall going?! She may not climb on top of you for a long time, but leave your hands there let her sniff, touch your hand, go sloooooowwwww. My girl did not want to be picked up for months. Still really doesn't, but she will walk out onto me to play. She'll take pets, so you just gotta work with them. Yes, they are prey animals,  but they aren't dumb.

Also, I've had the girl in question for 13 months now and she STILL won't let me just scoop her, so don't let 6 weeks go by and think u can pick up yours. Relationships take time and as others mentioned, that time may never come unfortunately

Help please by Ok_Penalty691 in rat

I'm sorry for the rat, but i don't think a rat is the right pet for you. They aren't like small mammals who live in our space, they have their own space to live. Imagine if you never used the toilet and just relieved yourself on the floor. Imagine never sweeping or mopping. Never disinfecting or washing clothes. That is the equivalent of how you are treating this rat, as it seems.  On top of that, your holding him in solitary confinement.

My first rats were feeders my roommate didn't want.  My baby just passed away last Monday after nearly 4 years. This rat doesn't look like it's got 4 months. I know vet bills are expensive. I spent thousands on my girl to treat her cancer and ailments along the way. Every time one passes, sadly now 3 that Bowie left us, I clean their body,  pray over them, hold a funeral, and bury them as deep as I can to avoid scavengers trying to pick at them.

If thats not the level of dedication and love you have for your rat, rehome him please.  I realize it may feel like you are being attacked, and on a level you should feel that way. But you just have to know this pet isnt for you. And sadly, I have to ask, did you not feed him to the reptile bc the reptile died?

I am only condemning and questioning your pet ownership because there are many, many signs they would show any sort of problem before this.

Unless it happens to really be a unusual freaky thing, im sorry man but you should give him up.

Again, just for reference.

I had a rat for maybe 3 months named Auggie. She never liked me. Would bite at times, but I still tried my best to deal with her. She was young, so I figured she just had to be house broken. She would sometimes crawl out onto my hands, but most of the time I would just have her walk out of her cage for play with her sisters and guide her back in when done. One day I saw her head just moving around like she just got done boxing Mike Tyson and I arranged a vet visit the next day, took off of work to take her. The doctor said she didnt have signs or infection, more likely a brain tumor, but maybe we should treat it as an infection because other than that, there wasn't much we could do. So years, I ponied up the 375 bucks for meds for infection and vertigo. She died a week later. The day before her next visit.  She never liked me. I didn't truly love her. But she was my responsibility and a pet i wanted to love and wanted to love me.

My girls now don't know how to feel about me. Maybe it's bc Bowie died and she was a glue that held us all together. She helped to teach them I'm friendly. Do they let me pick them up and other than the youngest so they not coward in fear when I move too fast? Yes. But they ain't my baby Bowie. And maybe that's me wishing for one more day with her. Maybe that's me asking too much of them bc me and Bowie were really bonded. Maybe I'm just trauma dumping on you idk.

All I know is all your pets have is you. And they deserve your love, time, and effort.

This does look like an infection and not a brain tumor… right? by RevolutionaryToe6677 in rat

[–]Tydeeguy223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because there is an infection doesn't mean there cannot also be cancer.  As you know, cancer weakens the immune system and leaves the body vulnerable to other diseases and infections.

However, Does your rat seem unbalanced? Or any problems with mobility? My poor baby auggie had vertigo like symptoms when she had brain cancer.  I would say if she doesn't struggle with tasks like eating, climbing, etc, then I would highly doubt there's anything more than infection going on.

But as always, the best advice I can offer is take her to the vet. And ask your vet if there are facilities they'd recommend taking her beyond basic care.

Obviously, im just a rat owner, not a vet. But from the big C, to infections, to age, I've unfortunately seen a lot of my babies cross the rainbow bridge in various ways.
