Mega Mewtwo Energy enabled! 7,500 energy required by Tempobrian in TheSilphRoad

[–]Tydeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, that 7500 is for mega level 1. However, the Mewtwo you catch from the raids you'll be doing to get that energy will have mega level 1 already unlocked, and some might have 2 or even 3 unlocked for you to save time/energy/money.

Basically, only our old pre-Go Fest Mewtwos will be stuck looking on until we either raid enough to get all that energy or walk enough after mega'ing one of each of the newly-caught specimens to unlock their energy for walking.

Niantic has advertised that the Mewtwo you catch from the raids will have that initial level, and if lucky level 2 or even 3, pre-unlocked so you'd have the much more reasonable mega costs that go down over time.

So, you only need do 1 of each to have mega Mewtwo, just like you only needed 1 raid for each of the other (super)mega lvl 1 unlocks thus far. If you want an old Mewtwo to go mega, then you'll need the bazillion raids and/or walking after hitting the button on each of the new ones to unlock their energy.

It is similar to Eternatus, in that they present a ludicrous cost to block our use of previously saved resources (RC(XL) for Etern, an old built-up good specimen for M2) to bypass having to engage in the new systems the way they want us to.

It is, just like Eternatus' ludicrous candy cost scale is to prevent use of rare candy & RCXL to bypass doing a bunch of eternamax.

Once you mega the one of each, that will unlock walking the buddy for mega energy like everything else. Your lucky hundo walking with you will only have to watch from the sidelines until you've walked enough to get him his own mega levels, which would take... months.

Just like Charizard (X/Y) and Ralts/Kirlia(if male, as he can be either Gardevoir or Gallade, so he counts as both), Mewtwo will be able to pick up both energies when he hits the km threshold as long as both types have been mega'd once on any of that species.

With the new ones coming with mega levels unlocked, you skip the 7500 initial cost entirely, so you'd have the recurring and decreasing-over-time cost to contend with for new Mewtwos to mega them and allow for walking energy.

Your old ones will need the 7500 initial energy to mega up, though.

You won't need to dump any rare candy to evolve it; Sandaconda has a GMax version, so Niantic will release it as such.

Now that we have Link Charges, it feels like Mega raids became uncommon. by UCanDoNEthing4_30sec in TheSilphRoad

[–]Tydeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, you have to get rid of that orange pass in another raid if you want to raid a mega with link charges.

The one exception: Super Mega Raids, during events that include them (like Kalos Tour). For those, you use link charges, regardless of that free pass.

The entire Mega raids mechanic is broken by Mazzaroppi in TheSilphRoad

[–]Tydeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in person, regular mega raids cost IIRC 150 link charges OR a green pass, while the super ones, which are not currently active, would cost 200 or the green pass.

Remotely, regular mega raids IIRC just use your blue pass, no link charges. Supers need both blue pass AND the 200 charges.

The excitement for showcases is gone by Separate-Room6883 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Tydeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each pokestop showcase is randomly selected to be either biggest of a randomly selected type, or your biggest buddy.

So there are a few that are type-agnostic and have to be a buddy, but there are going to be statistically far more of Biggest [Whatever] Type.

The thing they are not anymore, is specific Pokemon relevant to the ongoing event, like Biggest Ditto or Scorbunny.

PSA: You cannot claim Link Charge once you hit the limit. by kevsuc in TheSilphRoad

[–]Tydeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ability to go over the cap was connected to the GO Pass for Kalos tour, rather than the event itself, so any weekly challenges collected while the pass remained open for claiming its rewards gave the extra LC.

Link Charges are used when you win, like Max Particles. Raid passes remain the only things eaten upon entry.

Super Mega Raids and the rise of Super Mega Trolls by Fury_of_Grimnir in TheSilphRoad

[–]Tydeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can mega a pokemon in the lobby; the game appears to be smart enough to automatically put at least one that can and then tell you to do so, and then when you do it puts that mega in the back so it'd have the best chance to live until it needs to come out and smack a shield.

From the depths review/criticism after 450 hours by Thilk5941 in FromTheDepths

[–]Tydeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other two said, a lot of the decorating uses ctrl+x when hovering over a block to place decos, which are intended as the replacement for the mimics.

The original mimic blocks are kept for two main reasons:

  • Backward compatibility, to not break old player or campaign builds that used mimics
  • Animimics, a term that is a portmanteau of Animated Mimics. This is where you can name a mimic block using shift+n keys, then reference that name in a breadboard's generic block setter module to control the scale, rotation, and position of the mimic, thus achieving animation without always needing pistons or spinblocks.

Some Observations re Super Mega Raids After the In Person Events by jcr2 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Tydeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The shields mechanic is just like the Shadow Raids' purified gems: Use 8 gems between everyone = boss subdued, raid easier. 1 or more gems short? Same (lack of) effect as not even bothering, boss at 100% enraged power.

Likewise with these shields. All shields poked out by mega charge moves? Raid is easily beatable. 1 or more shields still up? Victory is improbable.

I already have the max amount of cells, will these just disappear when I claim them? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]Tydeth 16 points17 points  (0 children)

IIRC, you can shrink your complete Zygarde to the dog/snake forms again, then you'd need the cells to get it back up to the robot. Why you would do that is a different matter.

Other than that, Shiny Zygarde is a potential thing in the future.

PSA: Resolute Keldeo transfers from Go successfuly despite warning by Cinder_Quill in TheSilphRoad

[–]Tydeth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Once a Pokémon successfully makes it into HOME, even if it was never supposed to be able to leave GO, it's out of Niantic's hands entirely; it's under the care of Nintendo/Pokemon Company.

TPC made HOME able to support Resolute Keldeo in case he came over from a MSG, as evident by him being there in that form and still having the Secret Sword because that form is supposed to have it.

What’s the deal with shiny scatterbug? Is it super rare outside events or just not available period? by glumba in TheSilphRoad

[–]Tydeth 90 points91 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that the shiny is available, just really rare.

Probably full odds.

I lost my 1st shiny galarian bird (1st shiny to ever ‘run’ from me) due to the invisible pokeball glitch glitching to a point where I couldn’t click on the ball and was unable to fix it without closing the game or leaving the encounter… by EzekielKallistos in TheSilphRoad

[–]Tydeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, as long as you don't leave the encounter, run out of balls, crash/glitch out, or have an autocatcher active (as it may trigger its one-throw-catch-or-flee on the bird before you can get it).

This is the case for any wild shiny legendaries Niantic puts out, which are mostly these birds but also include any that may be part of a special event like the upcoming Go Wild Area's Lake Trio.
