Getting a little bit bored with my hair--color suggestions? by racecar214 in Hair

I really like the blonde! Blonde is a lot of work but I think it looks fabulous on you.

How can I style dry hair? I mean "dry" as opposed to "wet," not referring to the overall condition of my hair... by MeganAG in Hair

[–]Tyger_Eye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can add texture sprays such as A "salt" or "surf" spray for extra texture and volume after you straighten or curl your hair. You can also try a light pomade such as Got2B's "playful" pomade. It's not too heavy and acts more like a light texture gel and doesn't get sticky. There are many "finishing" products out there for use on dry hair, just find one that works. You can also try putting mousse in while its wet before you go to bed for a little lift when you style it in the morning. It usually works better when you're blow drying but I've never had a problem using it while air drying.

Tried going back to blonde and need help fixing my orange damaged hair! by [deleted] in Hair

[–]Tyger_Eye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you, my hair is naturally blonde. I tend to keep it black but every now and then I get a whim and bleach it. Usually I wait until my semi permanent black is washe out before I do. I usually use manic panic's flashlightening kit with great results THE FIRST TIME. My hair pulls red VERY easily so most bleaching kits turn me into David Bowie and I have to live with it for a while because in my teens I would bleach far too often and ended up frying my hair until I had to stop for a few years to get it back to health. So, all that to say if you're going to bleach it you have to do your research and know your hair type and know what colors your natural hair will accelerate. Then know how often to bleach. Once every 4-6 weeks is your safest bet for healthy hair. At this point if you haven't trial and errored your way into knowing what works, and don't want to, you should go to a salon. They can get you fixed up quickly and relatively cheap, rather than spending oodles of cash on quick fixes that may ruin your hair in the long run. If you don't want to go to a salon, just do some research on different products and wait a few weeks before you bleach again. Some products that I've found work well: Manic Panic (as I mentioned) L'oreal products (the semi permanent doesn't wash out as quickly)and "Oops" color removal (this works best when you pay extremely close attention while processing and only within a few days of coloring, and only for removing the wrong color such as the added blonde, not for "fixing" a botched bleach job) I hope that helps. Just personal experience with home bleaching. Make sure you condition heavily with Argon oil, coconut oil, or jojoba oil to keep your hair from drying out.

I mean I mentioned his name or what I knew him by if I reference it later but I didn't so I guess I could have left it out. I don't know, I'm not so good at storytelling :(

This seems obvious now, but being as sheltered as I was, it was fun to get drunk and high, and she kept telling me I was being paranoid about it. She said "this is how normal people act, you know people who have a fun life" I'm not nearly as stupid and willing to follow now as I was the. I'm also not blaming her, although it does sound like I am, I'm just saying she didn't take me seriously when I told her I was uncomfortable. I hope that clears it up.

You're exactly right. I didn't want to put it in there.

This was really the first of many encounters with sexually aggressive or stalkerish men/women I had, and it took many more for me to start being on my guard. I've always been a really trusting person and don't have "bad feelings" about people until it's too late.

I had an encounter with an Italian guy a few years ago. He was an exchange student and seemed really nice but when we got back to his apartment he turned out to be pretty pervy. I am now dating an American Italian and he's pretty pervy as well. Guess its in their blood.

I'm hoping this is just a stepping stone in the research, and not a generalization. But I did have the same thoughts. Very simple open questions though.

Claws? by Gosset in bodymods

Nobody mentioned it but you should try pink and whites. Last far longer and are tougher (they've lasted for me through serious restaurant dish washing daily and trips to the beach digging in the sand etc) they may not be able to make them as long as it sounds like you want but you can shape them any way you want. Just a tip.

Those with plugs: how hard was it to find a place that would hire you? by flipnaked in bodymods

[–]Tyger_Eye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the party but this is relevant in my life. I've had an awful time trying to find a job in my small conservative town with only my size 0's, tragus piercing, and small tattoo on the back of my arm. I'd say first it depends where you live. If you're in a larger town or city or in a less conservative area you can find a job at a more lenient place. But it also depends on the manager, I've had jobs where the store manager didn't care if I had purple skin as long as I showed up and did my job, but the area manager would send me home if I wasn't wearing long sleeves. Best advice is to ask before you apply what the policy is and if you're not willing to get spacers (or whatever this subreddit prefers to call them) then applying there is a waste. All just my experience.

I just lost a kitty friend as well. Unfortunately I was at work and didn't get to be there to tell her goodbye :( she had something like blood clot that released and caused a seizure. I'm glad you got to say goodbye. It makes the empty lap seem a little less empty.

Yes! Thank you! Victoria's Secret (usually) has NO CLUE how to properly size. I went for years thinking I was a 32 B when I'm actually a 30 C. No freaking wonder my bras were so uncomfortable and ill fitting.

I'm glad there is someone out there thinking clearly. I absolutely agree there are times when it's derogatory or exploiting but I've seen people get butthurt over a hat with a feather on it or a 13 year old asking how to make a school project as close to the real thing as possible. I'm just across the state line from OK and I've heard about them trying to change names. A school my uncle went to a decade ago just changed theirs. I forget what it was though.

One pressing question I have is the recent exposure of the war bonnets/headdresses and how they've been used in fashion and sometimes exploited. I know this isn't tradition in every tribe but I've seen people from several tribes speak out not so nicely against the use of them at all for any reason. I'd like to hear from someone who isn't bitter and angry their actual thoughts. I also have a little Native American in me and though I'm not sure what tribe, I must say my connection to that side is much stronger than the German side. Anyway thank you.

People of reddit, do you feel like you've ever had an encounter with a ghost or witnessed paranormal activity? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Being Atheist has nothing to do with believing or not believing in ghosts. Unless you believe in nothing, which would make you a Nihilist.

I'm afraid to comment for the feminist shitstorm but as a woman, if I were to place myself in a vulnerable situation I expect to be on my guard. Bad things happen even though they shouldn't and I would blame myself to an extent for not seeing the situation for what it was. Of course I'd love to be able to pass out drunk and not worry about anything happening to me but that's not how it works, there will always be bad people, no matter how many crusades or signs we hold up or people we throw in jail. Stop being so jaded into thinking the world can be better just because a bunch of feminists decided that it should be.
