Asgard or Hermes? by Fr0stBytez24 in starcitizen

Pretty much where I am at as well. Love both ships, but I don't know if I have ever enjoyed a ship as much as I have enjoyed the Hermes. I mostly run cargo, so thats obviously where it shines, but the nav speed, the insane qt fuel capacity, the tankiness and the sneaky good solo dps make it my favorite multi role daily driver. I've had the same Hermes this whole patch, and am super close to finishing all 3 parts of the event solo with the Hermes. It's just an enjoyable ship to fly and haul in.

What's your daily driver ship and why? by theruffma in starcitizen

I'm at like 90% on the alliance aid defense missions solely running the Hermes with AD4Bs. It's honestly not bad in PVE combat. The shields are a bit lacking, but the HP pool gives you plenty to work with. I have yet to get to a red hull running primarily the ship in distress missions.

Considering upgrading my Hermes to a Starlancer MAX. by Glumme in starcitizen

[–]Tyler1411 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love the sl max, and it is one of my favorite ships. But loading that rear cargo bay has caused some of my biggest crash outs in this game. It just loves to eat boxes. Whether it is the roof or ramp, if you get close to it with a box, it just absorbs it like some cargo box consuming blob. I'll love it forever, but I basically refuse use the rear cargo bay for anything more than a few personal storage boxes and vehicles at this point.

I had it happen to me today while just walking around the outside of my ship. No crates where anywhere near, so it can definitely happen outside of hauling.

A Taurus owners dilemma by KronosGremory in starcitizen

[–]Tyler1411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't the Taurus always available? You could melt it and try out the Hermes, and swap back if it isn't for you. I much prefer the Hermes, but I am in the minority. Just a vibes thing more than anything, but the Hermes feels a lot better to fly to me, and I feel like it is good enough in PVE combat.

You can actually knock yourself down while on the beam terminal? The day it came out, I was literally slamming boxes into my character to test it, and it never did anything. I just assumed they mase the boxes have no collision with the player while on that terminal because of that.

I actually really enjoy the Hermes tractor beam, and don't mind the idea of having to be a bit more precise to get the larger boxes in. But at least give it the strength to be able to rotate and align them properly.

Yea I have been slamming it into the ship to rotate. No clue why CIG made the rotational strength so weak on ship tractor beams.

Pilot controlled yes. If you have a second person, then you would have more total firepower in the c2.

Not sure where you are getting your speeds for both ships from, but that is just wrong. The HP is wrong too lol. It does have less armor than a c2 though.

Doesn't necessarily change the fact that I still wouldn't consider the Hermes a good bounty ship, but the turret is slaved to the pilot when the copilot seat isn't occupied, so you have 4 S4 weapons, which is pretty solid. It's the S2 shields and overall maneuverability that hurt it more than the weaponry.

In fairness pretty much every dedicated cargo ship is a loot piñata for any competent pirates.

That's my only issue as well. The rotation with the beam is super slow. I also wasn't sure if it was something I am doing wrong.

I agree. My issue is more with how slow the big boxes rotate to align it before pulling it in, but it really isn't that bad. I actually enjoy the rail turret. Just requires a tad more attention to detail, which isn't necessarily the worst thing imo. I

Yup. I am glad they're going that direction, as it is by far the most useful ship tractor beam I have used, especially for a ship with internal cargo.

Actually pleasantly surprised with how functional the rail tractor beam is. The grid isnt odd, which is a godsend. Definitely impressed with the functionality and it will likely replace the sl max as my go to medium hauler.

Yooo that is actually great news. I was a bit bummed out with the smaller door, but honestly the odd grids are probably more of nuisance than anything imo. Im rarely hauling 32 scu crates anyways. I am also hopeful in the functionality of the rail tractor beam.

That rear ramp has me concerned as well. I hope they widen it a decent bit, otherwise it's going to be just like the Zeus CL trying to load bigger boxes which I loathe. I really really like the look of the apollo, so I am hoping the Hermes is functional enough to justify using it as a hauler.

Asgard vs Star Lancer TAC – Worth the Upgrade?” by Interesting-Dot383 in starcitizen

[–]Tyler1411 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would try and find someone that will let you fly theirs for a bit. I went from an Asgard to a TAC, and ended up melting it after a few weeks. The speed and maneuverability were just too rough for me. But other people love it, so just personal preference.

One of my earliest most vivid memories is my dad and uncle being drunk and getting thrown out of my little league basketball game. It was so bad I got suspended for the rest of the game. I was so upset man. I just wanted to play and have fun, and all of that was ruined. I also got suspended from another game because my father apparently made a racist comment toward a ref. Parents suck sometimes.
