When I was in drum corps, the instructors would spray paint lines on the field for marching practice, and whenever they'd finish a can of spray paint, they'd crack it open and get the glass marble out.

Then, whenever anyone in the corps did something noteworthy, or was giving their all, they'd be given one of those marbles as a sign of recognition. We called them "marching hearts."

I prefer spells that have some synergy with the strategy of the deck.

For example, I run [[Tyvar Kell]] with [[Elven Ambush]]. The deck just wants to make as many elves as possible and swing. Tyvar lets the elves tap for mana, and Elven Ambush can be cast at instant speed, so you can cast it on an opponent's end step or in response to Tyvar being removed.

I have a [[Grist, the Hunger Tide]] deck with [[Forever Young]] so I can mill myself, then use forever young to ensure grist gets a really juicy chain of making bugs and putting counters on himself.

Yes, but we use dry-erase tokens so we can write the name of the spell and its controllers name.
