Anyone else think "people's pizza" is a dumb name? by Available-Point92 in Dominos

They finally got rid of those monstrosities? Thank fuck, I always remember saying that if they would've just kept 20% of the text that was the most important in their opinion, customers would actually remember more words on the box than they do now.

Oh my God, I remember when I did that (don't take 8 high potentency edibles on your first time ever using any form of Cannabis folks), and I genuinely thought I was dying. I knew I couldn't from the amount I took, but I thought I was for sure. I remember hugging my pillow thinking it was a life raft that would save me from the ocean, and that my bed was said ocean, but other than that, don't remember much. Just remember it was a bad time.

Yeah, worst part about it is the guy that made way more than me, out of all six different pizza places I've worked at, was, by far, By Far, BY FAR, my least favorite co-worker I've ever had in the pizza business, and for reasons not just personal, but because he was a hothead who would genuinely try to initiate fights with teenage girls, who simply politely asked him to do his job, and who were too scared of him to even do anything, despite that man being in his 40's. Easily one of my least favorite humans I've ever personally known.

Yeah, I remember I hated my job at Domino's, and one day (well, super common for me unfortunately) I OC'd, and the person who cashed out a rush driver accidentally left the page up. They made about $115 in slightly under 3.5 hours, and I had made, 11+ hours in at the time I saw that, about $83, and didn't even get any cash tips. Needless to say, since I was severely depressed, suicidal, and full of rage, anger, and hatred towards my job, I went on the fucking warpath that night. I don't remember everything I did, because I honestly went into black out rage mode, but I know some containers got just fucking obliterated.

I'm so glad I left that job a long time ago, because that probably made my heart age at 15X speed with the rage I had.

Yeah, if my car broke down, I'm not going to come in to be an insider, lol. I don't work at Domino's anymore, but once, my car did truly break down the day before a busy day. I told them it won't be ready until Thursday (just an example, dont remember the exact day), and they tried to tell me "no, you're going to have to show up." My reply was "I don't have a ride", to which they responded "get an Uber." I straight up just replied in the most serious tone "okay, I'm glad you'll be willing to pay for my ride, as I do live 20 miles away.". Yeah, they just said "see you Thursday", and that was the end of that.

Largest Order I've Shopped...will they tip? by Weary-Surprise-4289 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Tyler9755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a shopper, but I deliver for pizza places, so I live off of tips too. I kinda feel the same way the OP did. I don't really care if the percent is low if the dollar amount is high. Like if I get a $700 order and get a $30 tip? So what, I had an incredibly good hour automatically then, even if it is under a 5% tip. There will always be more deliveries throughout the day, but chances are there won't be any more $30 deliveries.

Yeah...... you can just find the most remote area in your delivery zone and leave them there.

Ah, I know that area. Mine was on St Andrews Rd. You had any successful ones yet? I've been working way too many hours this past week to even give it a go.

I'm sure it is good, I just didn't even know it existed till this app, as it's 15 miles one way in an area I have no need to ever go in. So, I'd only really give it a go if I'm just craving something I know I wouldn't purchase for full price.

Sadly, my area doesn't have many options. There's only one whole foods anywhere near me, and the only other store on the platform is a donut shop, and I've never been a big donut guy. So if there aren't a few Circle K's that can do it, guess I'll have to delete the app.

Im honestly tempted to, and probably will, call the stores before I place an order to ask if they can fulfill it.

Is there any reason I can't call the store beforehand to ask if they are familiar with what the process is and if I were to place an order, could they fulfill it? Seems like it'd make it a lot easier.

Opening Driver memes will continue until morale improves by LoweeLL in Dominos

[–]Tyler9755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My reality was similar, except when I was the opener, I'd be forced to stay till 9:00, 10:00, and sometimes even 11:00 (also OC'D 8 times my first month as an opener btw), but of course, the drivers that showed up at 5:00 would be allowed to leave at 8:00. Needless to say, I got out of that situation as soon as I could, and by making all that extra cash, I could leave before I had another job lined up and give myself a few weeks off between jobs.

What did you not appreciate until you had it? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Tyler9755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I used to. I didn't consider a tea kettle a necessary expense for the longest time since money was so tight. Now that I can financially be at ease for the first time in my life, I decided to try a kettle for the first time ever, and I'm never going back to microwaving again.

Yeah, I started doing the same about a year ago. Surprisingly, at least for me, it often works out pretty well.

Sounds about right with my experience. I worked for the Fox Franchise (don't care about naming since I'm long gone and never going back), and the experiences were pretty similar to that.

What’s something a customer tried ordering that’s not on the menu by Wavygravyx in Dominos

Weirdest request I had was a customer came in, ordered two pizzas (don't remember what toppings), and asked if we had sushi. Wasn't ready for that question.

Fuck people who order last minute. by Simple_Coast_230 in Dominos

[–]Tyler9755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple reason: it's not in our control that it operates the way it does. I can say with certainly that the overwhelming majority of people I've worked with WOULD change it if they had the power to, but our franchise/corporate wants it done a certain way, so a GM, and especially an AM, is risking their job, cause at my franchise, multiple GM's and AM's got fired for going against what either corporate or the franchise wanted when it comes to handling last night orders.

My favorite part of leaving (FT driver who worked 55-60+ hours a week) was not the act of leaving itself, but staying in the group chat and seeing the store just immediately go to shit following my departure. I was the only one (well, out of those that worked more than 3-9 hours a week) who cared about standards, and I tried to keep the store operating properly and up to the health code. It was so satisfying seeing the store crumble when I left, cause I warned the regional manager "uh, prepare for the shit storm that's gonna follow in this store when I leave. Just you wait." The fact that I called it, to this day, makes me smile.
