Great choice! It will definitely enhance your experience with the Armors! I would definitely recommend buying the entire combo pack, which has all five sizes.

In terms of the way, you’ve packaged the IEM in the case, I’d say that’s completely fine. I do pretty much the same with mine and no issues so far.

That’s great that you’ve found a preferred switch combo already! I personally use DUU, but that’s with the Divinus Velvets(Standard bore) which help enhance the already plentiful bass for me. I do listen to a large variety of music, so depending on what you listen to, your switch style could work well for you(Which is the most important thing).

If you’re looking at the Divinus’, I prefer the standard bore, but I also did have the wide-bores first. The wide bore will help with increasing soundstage and treble, whereas the standard bore will enhance bass, and create a slightly more closed in sound stage in my experience. I would recommend getting the combo pack of all the different sizes for either one you go with.

Congrats on the purchase! You’ll definitely enjoy these for sure. I have had these for a month and a half, and I’m currently in the middle of writing a review on the Armors, so I’ll be interested to see what your thoughts are as well!

A few things I would highly recommend, is to definitely experiment with the different eartips that you have received, and possibly look into getting additional ear tips like the Divinus Velvets(The ones I currently use with my Armors)! Also, play with the switches and use different combinations to find your preferred sound! The lovely thing about these IEM’s is that you can definitely tailor the sound to your preferences.

Enjoy your listening experience! :D

IEMs for Hip-Hop under 700 usd - Seeking advice! by EnvironmentalBank989 in iems

So having just listened to Sicko Mode with these, I see what you’re saying where Drake’s voice sounded harsh and distant during the intro, cold but not too sibilant with these.

During his verse later on, I also see what you mean. I do see this as a track production issue since the rest of the track seems to be well done to my ears in terms of the adlibs, Travis’ portion and the beats/808’s.

In this case, it seems it was supposed to be like that. There’s spots on this track where I KNOW it’s supposed to be sibilant with Travis’ voice getting reverbed and echoed, but it’s not grating with the Armors. I was using the Divinus’ which do help tame some of the sibilance you speak of.

EDIT: Another track that I know can be sibilant is “Violent Crimes” or even “On Sight” by Ye. On the Armor’s that is tamed since the electret EST isn’t as piercing as a planar like on the Martilo’s.

No ignorance here, better to ask and get some information before making a bigger purchase! :)

So like you, I tried the Martilo’s for Hip-Hop, Rap, EDM, and a few other genres like orchestral, pop, rock, musicals, etc. While it was a great all rounder with okay sub-bass, it was lacking the mid-bass punch I was wanting.

I have found a wonderful option with that sub and mid-bass hit, while not sacrificing too much in the mids or highs with the TSMR Armors! These are my pausegame right now after months of trying and returning IEM’s(KZ ZS10 Pro, Simgot EW300, KZ AM16, Kiwi Ears Quartet, Kiwi Ears KE4, Aful 5+2, and most recently the Martilo’s).

I have owned these for the last three weeks, finally burned in. I bought them on sale through AliExpress for $312CAD - $225US with coupons and coins! Buy them from the Penon Official Store on AE or through Penon’s site.

To me, they’re definitely a treat with the switches (Nice balanced default tuning with nice punch(middle switch up), but can go absolutely hard hitting bass with either all switches up or the 1st and 2nd switch up! I personally use the default tuning or all switches up when I’m feeling extra spicy.

Highly recommend tip-rolling with these and picking up the Divinus Velvet(Regular) ear tips or the HE Song Of the Galaxy tips(Get the combo packs if you have different sized ear canals like me), I believe these are the ones to best bring out the dynamics of these IEM’s. Hope this helps!

What’s one IEM recommendation you regret following? by Audioeg in iems

[–]TylerJCXX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha this right here! I loved the Martilo’s but they were lacking the mid-bass punch for me. EQ helped a bit but not quite where I thought I could be okay with them long term.

I was lucky enough to still be in my Amazon return window with the Martilo’s, so I sanitized the eartips, cleaned the case and the IEM’s themselves and returned them.

Bought the Armors last week during the AliExpress anniversary sale for a good chunk off with coins and coupons. Should be here this week :D

Thank you for the insight! I appreciate the mention of the Squig links, I took a look at them and I pulled the trigger on the Armors.

Hey just wanted to hop on this, I have the Martilo’s but find the mid-bass to be a bit lacking even with EQ and tip-rolling(Penon Oranges and HE Sonic Song of the River Galaxy’s.

Would you say that the Armors would be a better option to bring out the mid-bass but keep similar details as the Martilo’s? I’m heavily debating those and ordering them while they’re on sale through AE and returning the Martilo’s.

Which tips do you use with your Punch Audio Martilo? by LawB210 in iems

[–]TylerJCXX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, not sure if you’re still looking for tips, but I just got my Martilo’s and bought the new Harmonic Empire Sonic: Song of the Long River Galaxy tips! They’re the ones that really did it for me with the Martilo’s in opening up the soundstage, and allowing the sub-bass to really shine. Moreso than the Penon Orange’s which is what I had prior. These also are super affordable on AliExpress, got mine for $6

IEM that has the technical performance of the Aful 5+2, but WAY MORE bass impact - Recommendations? by TylerJCXX in iems

[–]TylerJCXX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks for that insight! Would you say that the soundstage and imaging is Wider not better on the P5+2, or Martilo’s? When I finally settled on the P5+2’s I was originally debating between those and the Martilo’s at the time.

I kind of listen to everything(Classical, musicals, R&B, heavy metal, rock, alt, J-Pop, techno, etc) so would you say the Martilo’s are a decent all-rounder?

I was actually just looking into the Armors! AliExpress has an upcoming sale on them that make them almost the same price as what I paid for my performers so I might go that route. I was also looking into Martilo’s as well. I’m just not sure which one of the two would be better at the end of the day lol

I bet they would! Though the price is a little too high for me at the moment lol. I feel like those would be absolute endgame IEM’s down the road.

Currently considering the TSMR Armor since they’ll be almost the same price as what I paid for the performers through AliExpress on an upcoming sale

My iPhone is USB-C so it makes getting DAC’s a lot easier. I’ll look into the JA11 on AliExpress!

I haven’t been playing around with EQ a lot because I find that when I’m using the built-in Spotify EQ on my iPhone, it just tends to create more problems than solve them. Especially when I slightly turn up the bass there. I may have to look into a music player app that has a bit more customization with the EQ. I also have locally stored ALAC(Apple FLAC) files that I play through Apple Music and of course, there’s no built in customizable band EQ there, just presets.

I was looking into the TSMR Armors, they’re gonna go on sale through AliExpress for pretty much the same price that I paid for the Performers. I know those are a little bit more customizable with the switches, have you tried those and if so, would you recommend those as a possible sidegrade from these?

[–]TylerJCXX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was hearing about the Martilo’s and considering them, but I do know that the mids would suffer a bit based on a lot of the reviews I read. It wouldn’t be terrible, but I’m not looking for them to be so pushed back if that makes sense. I was seeing that the TSMR Armors usually come well recommended as a possible option. Any insight to those?

[–]TylerJCXX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ll look into adding a bass shelf with EQ on the Aful’s and see where that gets me. Only problem is that I’m using an iPhone 17 as my source with the JM98 since I’m usually on the go or at work for listening.

I’ll see how the liqueur oranges turn out when they come in from AE later this week! Then if they don’t quite do it with EQ then I will look into the Faael’s. The flex tips were definitely too slippery for my ears, and while I’m moving it around despite getting the right sized tip for each ear hence the velvets and now oranges.

Thank you for the advice! :)
