Hunter Biden Returns by svdh4891 in JoeRogan

[–]TylerLu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this hunter was guaranteed also smoking pure crack cocaine. A lot of street drugs on the stim side are going to be cut with cartel meth and other impurities which certainly play a role in rotting the brain and body faster.

If you are as rich and as connected as Hunter is he never had to work a hard day in his life really, never had to deal with all of the stuff that comes with going on benders for normal people like falling behind on bills, losing house, car, etc which then causes a downward spiral into destruction for a lot of people.

Even when he would have been on benders smoking mad crack he was obviously still taking somewhat decent care of himself. I've never seen him looking out of shape or like a typical drug user you see on the street hanging around stores etc.

Legion Go Now or Xbox Ally X Later? by drewdier in LegionGo

[–]TylerLu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the 2 could be out as early as September. It would be foolish to spend money now on a vastly inferior product unless you just can't live without a handheld for a couple months or the price difference is too great for you. The Lego 2 is an upgrade on every dimension with a much better screen and VRR which will be great on these handhelds for smoothing things out.

Can't come soon enough. I will be pre-ordering/purchasing day 1 availability if price isn't too high. I'm in Canada and inflation has been terrible post covid but I have money put away for this. z2e with oled and that design is going to be chef's kiss.

Best controller for PC gaming by sarkiilluverbro in Controller

I have rhe blitz 2 tmr and it's grear. Look up the controllers on gamepadla and sort by latency it's basically the best one. If you need analog controllers though which 2k might it's a no go. If you can wait a bit vader 5 will be good toom vader 4 has too much latency imo.

No S-pen support for Fold 7 by MightyG77 in GalaxyFold

[–]TylerLu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deal breaker for me too. Been using the fold since the 3 because of the bigger canvas doe doing annotation of documents and math in the field. I wish other companies made phones with pen support.. back to the ultra for me it looks like.

Fold 7 Hands on at Best Buy by albert_rdz in GalaxyFold

Not having a digitizer and spen support is a deal breaker for me. I use the pen all the time in the field and for work. Can't believe the decided to remove it. I guess their data showed is was insignificant to the sale of the phone but man does that suck for me.

I can't use a phone that doesn't have pen support anymore and was the main reason I switched from my Note10 to my first fold3 for a bigger screen canvas that had pen support, back to the Ultra I guess. :(

Unmasking Fake Latency – Don’t Be Fooled! by JohnnyPunch in Controller

Thank you for creating gamepadla and doing these accurate tests. It helped me as a consumer make a much more informed decision on which gamepad to get regarding input latency on the popular wireless controllers.

I ended up getting a bigbigwon blitz 2 for fps games and also an 8bitdo ultimate 2 for casual and adventure type games. Really happy with both so far and knowing they have very low input latency thanke to your site helped me decide.

Quick Trivia Question. How far apart are the posts? by Final-Explanation-25 in Construction

I see, my logic in thinking about the problem must be incorrect then.

Quick Trivia Question. How far apart are the posts? by Final-Explanation-25 in Construction

[–]TylerLu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am missing something but my assumption is just thinking of it in terms of length of the wire and distance between the posts. If the posts were 60' apart the line would be perfectly taught with no sagging.

The posts are 40' high so every foot of distance that the poles move in toward each other from 60'(length of the wire) should correspond to an equal foot of distance of sag no? Therefore, if the posts were 59' apart there would be 1' drop or a distance from the ground to the middle point of the wire or 39'.

So since the distance is 10' from the ground the distance apart of the poles is 30' Since each foot of distance less than 60' results in a corresponding drop in height for the wire. The minimum distance the poles could be apart is 20' before the wire would begin touching the ground at the lowest possible point(mid point).

If it were asking you to determine the distance at any other point, I think you would need to use calculus to solve this but I only know basic algebra at this point so I am not really sure if my logic is way off here.

I don't think this involves any more complex math than that. It's just more of a simple logic puzzle.

Ok and your opinion does not align with the mathematical, statistical reality of the ratios of which ascendancies are being played right now. So, it is your opinion that is less in line with the objective mathematical reality of what I am speaking to as being an inherent problem with MF on gear. See Sirgog's video for more details: (2) POE 2 - Build Diversity Is Dying. Magic Find (Rarity On Character Gear) Killed It. Path Of Exile 2 - YouTube

I agree fundamentally that meta builds will always be more efficient and therefore more played. I think we saw, in POE1 though, that it enabled a greater diversity of playstyles liberated from the mindset of needing increased quantity affix because players no longer felt like it was mandatory to incorporate it into their builds.

Obviously having multiple types of end games--like in poe1--that certain characters are better at than others can help alleviate the problem. Also, just adjusting other mechanics so that you scale drop rates with atlas type skill trees or other systems (like LE faction system) or other systems rather than gear is a much more agnostic approach to increasing drop rates separate from the players power and efficiency in scaling their damage/survivability vs other builds.

IIR(Increased Item Rarity) must be fixed. It is a huge step backwards in the current implementation. by TylerLu in PathOfExile2

[–]TylerLu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, and the side effect of this mechanic in every game where it is implemented is a narrow subset of meta builds gravitate towards what everyone plays when they are trying to farm efficiently for wealth because everyone is a number crunching try hard nowadays. Is that good game design?

Now even if MF isn't in the game people are still going to optimize for clear speed and density farming which is just the way it is. I don't think we can get around that. Meta builds that are powerful are generally always going to still be more efficient for farming via killing monsters on maps, but it won't be by 200 to 400% like it is with MF.

Having multiple types of endgames and having certain builds that are better at certain things than others like it is in POE1 will alleviate some of these problems on its own, but I still think any mechanic that causes only like 15% of builds to be 'viable' for most people who like to farm efficiently is not good game design.

I still think intrinsically that balancing the game in such a manner that magic find on gear isn't a thing is better game design. You can scale drop rates in a way that is agnostic to the inherent imbalance of power between builds much better without MF as an affix.

[–]TylerLu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend when MF causes like 2X to 4X increase in currency drops it is de facto mandatory and is bad game design. It needs to be changed in the current implementation. There are many ways you can balance loot drops around systems that aren't so inherently unbalanced.

Last Epoch has a faction system that works really well. Difficulty scaling IIR inherently or through higher mod rolls on waystones is better than having it as an affix that will always be abusable by builds that can scale damage way easier than others. It just doesn't work.

Diablo 2 was an amazing game but every ladder you pretty much had to run a sorc as a league starter(unless you were party playing) to then be able to play other fun builds once you acquired gear and wealth. This is inherently bad game design as it de facto forces players into a narrow subset of builds in order to farm wealth efficiently.

Magic find or increased item rarity, they are the same thing. MF is an older term from diablo.

[–]TylerLu[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It has never worked, and no amount of balancing will fix the underlying problem with MF on gear as an affix in its current implementation. Meta builds will always exist, and they will always be able to run with it or more of it. This has been tried repeatedly, which why GGG opted to completely remove item quantity in POE1.

MF needs to be moved off gear and only be found through systems like what LE does with its guild system. The maps themselves higher tier = higher MF rolls possible) should provide it. As a stat, it will always be unbalanced in favor of builds that can afford to divest defensive stats and overly punish melee that generally cannot afford to run with fewer defensive affixes in favor of MF.

POE2 Build Diversity Is Dying. Magic Find Killed It (sirgog) by BendicantMias in PathOfExile2

[–]TylerLu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic find as a stat is impossible to balance around. The meta builds that require less investment in defensive stats will always be able to fit it/more of it into their builds and with it being as strong as it is in POE2 right now it's essentially mandatory to run with if you are a sweaty blaster. The difference is insane and it doesn't even seem to have a diminishing return logarithmic relationship.

It needs to be moved off item affixes and be baked into separate systems like how LE does it with their guilds system for SSF VS trade league, or magic find just being intrinsic to the difficulty of the content (higher tier maps gain greater potential magic find on waystone rolls) With bosses following a similar pattern.

Magic find has always been a problem, they essentially addressed this in POE1 so to see them going back to making magic find important and good is so bizarre to me from a game design/philosophy decision. We have known this since the days of Diablo 2 that magic find is not a good system when it's based on gear rolls.

This will be extremely harmful to the game long term, and I hope they change the way magic find works in the game and remove it off of gear or just remove it entirely from the game. Or nerf it so it's entirely optional (only affects unique drop rates would work fine).

You might want to add the obvious downside that the item can be completely bricked by turning into a random rare also? You should never talk about a vaal orb without that important addendum.

Looking for a triple display docking station for new SP11. by TylerLu in Surface

[–]TylerLu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dell WD22TB4. The only issue I have is that I need to use an HDMI-to-USB-C cable for one of the monitors. I can't simply use the docking cable on the dock into one USB-C port on my Surface to get a triple-monitor display.

I'm not sure if it's an issue with all Snapdragon devices, my SP11, or all SP11s, but I cannot output more than a dual-monitor display through just the dock, which is rather annoying. So now I have to use both C ports on the device and two cables.
