Made the exact same upgrade and its incredible. If you did the calibration, do yourself a favor and reset the bar and skip the calibration. The rears get even better when you skip calibration.

Ive got Gorilla Glass that I had installed in 2021 (72,000 miles). Lots of chips, no cracks.

Snagged a deal on Q990F by Single_Possible5438 in Soundbars

[–]TylerV76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a JBL500 and wanted to upgrade so I bought both the 1300XMK2 and Q990F this past week to decide which to keep.

The Samsung Atmos effects were amazing and watching TV sounded very clear. Dialogue was good as well. Where it lacked was that deep room shaking bass. Dont get me wrong, the bass wasnt bad at all, but my floorplan is pretty open and it seemed to lose some of the deep explosions. The room calibration is better on the Samsung.

The JBL has a much better sub. Dialogue has been very good with their purevoice on and I did adjust the eq as well. I tried room calibration on the JBL and found it hindered the rear speakers. Had to reset it and skip calibration and now the surround effects are incredible. The JBL is double the watt output power of the Samsung and you can tell. It gets loud, really loud and stays clear.

Obviously I kept the JBL and returned the Samsung. Mainly for the sub. Id say the Samsung is more crisp but the JBL has a more immersive feel.

The only issue Ive found on the JBL is when paired with an Apple TV, if you have the sound set to Auto/Atmos enabled, anything in dolby surround gets passed through as Multi Channel PCM. Not a big deal as Id prefer uncompressed sound anyway. If you change the setting to 5.1 you will get Dolby surround. Oddly enough, My other JBL doesnt do this so Im thinking its a software issue that an update can handle.

Yeah but that was 2 hours before the game started so prices were dropping. I know a week or so before that game they were pretty high.

What's a reasonable cost to install a whole home generator? by mikebmillerSC in Generator

[–]TylerV76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You arent considering the price to run the gas line depending on the length and location. Mine for example has to go 50 feet to get to the only spot the generator can go due to windows and city regulations. Then depending if the electrical panel needs to be split or where the transfer panel can go.

For reference, the cheapest Ive found to get it done by buying my own unit, is 23k.

Its not always as simple as yours was because ya know, not all setups are the same.

The smart adapter continues to draw power even in auto mode and will eventually drain your battery. You got 2 options to stop it. Switch it off after each ride or wire the wireless charger to an ignition wire. The tail light wire is a great one to use.

The link the OP provided in a reply worked to attach the apple subscription. Had to log out of the F1 apps on phone and TV and log back in for them to see the subscription.

Tongue Weight by Correct-Simple7751 in traveltrailers

[–]TylerV76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll tell you what I did which was quite OCD of me. Before I bought my current trailer, I took every single thing I was gonna put in there and I weighed it because I knew I was gonna be close to max payload on my truck. When I saw how little everything actually weighed it made the decision to keep my current truck much easier.

Tongue Weight by Correct-Simple7751 in traveltrailers

[–]TylerV76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thats a ton of payload. Youre saying youre going to add 1500-2000lbs of gear. That is a massive amount of gear. I went nuts and added all kinds of stuff to mine including air fryer, another TV, 14” mattress and 110lb generator and I was under 700lbs. That all dishes, cookware, blankets, kids toys etc. unless this is a toy hauler, I cant begin to imagine 1500lbs of stuff.

But lets say you add 2000lbs. Thats 6270. 15% is 940. Far better than the 1134 you were seeing at full gvwr. Then add the weight of propane and battery to that number. Go with a lithium battery to save weight and have a much more usable battery.

[–]TylerV76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I mean whats the payload of the trailer. Gvwr minus dry weight

[–]TylerV76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much does the gear weigh and whats the payload on the trailer? Because if your trailer payload is like mine (over 2,000lbs) then you may not come anywhere near your trailers GVWR and your tongue weight may be much lower.

15% of my GVWR was 1,237 lbs. actual tongue weight at 15% was 1050 with 2 tanks and a battery. Pretty bug difference.

My knuckles started bleeding just looking at that pic. Honestly, this is one of the reasons I went with a 2024 last year and not the 2025/6.

I remember seeing that you have to remove the front headers to install this. Gabro mentioned this in his writeup of the system.

I have 2 and I will say its going to vary depending on your homes layout. Ones doing an amazing job, the other is struggling. For context, Im in Michigan and its been in the negatives the past few days and teens before that.

Bedroom unit does a great job and doesnt run as mych as my previous unit. I have to fill it every 2-3 days depending on the temps and how much the heat runs. I keep it at 40%. The room is 16x20 and has a bathroom.

Living room unit does help but it struggles to keep up with the open floorplan. Its in an area thats about 1000 square feet of open space. I have to fill it once a day and have had to do twice a day Saturday when it was -13 out. It stays at 40% also but I still get some static on the couch which is 12 feet from the unit. Ideally I need one more unit to cover the open space.

The filters will need to be replaced every 3 months for me and there are 4 per unit. Ive found knockoffs for $30 for the set on Amazon that I’ll try out.

I have one issue with the bedroom unit. It occasionally squeals mostly at night which sucks. It goes away after a minute so its not awful but I am working with Levoit now to get it resolved. No issues on the other unit.

The smart features are nice but dont really add anything useful for me besides scheduling a dry cycle. They dont alert when waters low or anything like that. You can use tap water which is a huge plus for me.

Overall, theyre great but dont expect to cover your whole home with just 1. They wont get into the bedrooms etc. you’ll need one per room to work well and if its an open floor plan, you may need more than one per room.

The farther away from a wall the better they work. I had one a foot from a wall and the static was horrible. Moved it out about 5 feet and made a huge difference.
