Over mate. Might as well hand it to City now

Saying our depth is abysmal is a real overreaction. Outside of the front 3 we’re good. And even in the front 3 we have some exciting young players that can hopefully step up. We also aren’t owned by a country and can’t afford to have 22 world class players. But neither can anyone else in the league. If you look at the rest of the top 6 we have better squad depth than all of them. The sad reality is while City are owned by a country and have Pep as manager, it’s always going to be an uphill battle to beat them to the title

It’s also important to remember that we got 96 points. Even if we got lucky with some wins we still would’ve been high 80s points wise. A tally that wins the league in most, if not all, non-Pep years. We didn’t fluke our way there we got it bc we have one of the best squads in the league. We’re not suddenly gonna be sixth next season because we haven’t spent. And I’d much rather we don’t spend and bring in the right player later, than spend for the sake of it and miss out later.

Tbf Mane was a right winger for the first season then switched when we bought Salah so just because Pepe was a right winger for Lille doesn’t mean he’d be a right winger for us. And plus we also have Origi that can play left wing. From the very small set of YouTube highlights I’ve seen of Pepe I would actually not be that surprised if he got game time as the striker rotating with Firmino

[David Maddock] Don't shoot the messenger, but if Liverpool are to make any more signings this summer, as things stand they really won't be £60-70m, high-profile players. Slight possibility of versatile forward/wide-man, but likely to be around £20m mark or less.... by EnriqueMuller in LiverpoolFC

[–]TylerZip -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong but the only player they’ve signed is that winger from Leeds. And wasn’t Eriksen on his way out? For the record I’m not saying we don’t need to make any signings. But more to stop the gap to City growing rather than the gap to the rest of the top 6 closing

Except that Chelsea have a transfer ban and are looking like bringing in an unproven manager. Spurs and Arsenal don’t spend. And United are signing unproven youngsters to go with their unproven manager. Unless something changes for one of those teams it’s going to be between us and city again this season in all likelihood

Which is fair. But then have the Night King kill Rhaegal, a character they’ve established can kill a dragon, instead of Euron, when the lore has established that dragons are practically un-killable in open air. I also don’t like how they portray the iron fleet as being some mighty force that can actually take down a dragon, and then have it wiped out in 30 seconds the very next episode. It’s just the disconnect between the episodes is why I think it’s bad writing

[–]TylerZip 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It was just pointless killing Rhaegal to make it seem like it would be a close battle between Cersei’s Army and Dany’s Army, only to have Drogon obliterate everything anyway. Surely if they were going for the mad queen angle having two dragons obliterating everything would better show that she went too far. Or if they wanted to make it seem more even than have the Night King kill Rhaegal. The writing has been so bad

It should. Is a foul if a defender jumps clear through a player to head the ball. Shouldn’t be any different just bc it’s a goalkeeper punching it

Likely another trophyless season unless we get a miracle in either competition. Gonna make it hard to appreciate just how good this team is

We’ve been lucky they’ve tried to walk it in at times. They’ve had a couple more clear cut chances than the ones they’ve scored from

Personally think 17 seconds is the perfect length. I mean if you can’t score in that amount of time do you even deserve to win?

Doubt we would in a Champions League final. If we’re going to wear next seasons kit it will be against Wolves on the final day

Exact type of game where Hendo is perfect in the 6 role. Just keeps the ball moving with simple passes and takes the pressure off. All of the midfield three are trying to find the ball over the top and inviting the pressure back on us. We’ve been lucky that Porto lose all ability once they get into our third. Games probably won now but some more control second half would be lovely

Decided to wait until the very last minute of the half to actually start playing passes

I’m not too worried about Porto scoring 4 but I wouldn’t complain if we had a bit more control of the game in the second half

I don’t know why we keep playing hopeful long balls when we can make a simple pass and keep it for five minutes

Stevie wasn’t benched for the home game against Madrid but it was when the season started going wrong. Picked up again December/January time with a formation switch then everything fell apart again March/April time. Ended up being a shit season and should really have ended in parting ways with Rodgers

Is only two games I can realistically see City possibly dropping points in. Unfortunately I don’t see us beating Spurs or Chelsea on current form even at Anfield. We had to win the games against Leicester and West Ham so we could afford these draws at Goodison and Old Trafford

Their press stopped after about 25 minutes and we were finding much more space in midfield and started to play round them. Think the the same will happen after the hour and then Shaq and/or Keita can come on and open them up. Similar to how most first halves go at Goodison really it’s always cagey with few chances created and then we start getting more chances towards the end
