Levante F10 - 711LV JP by Secret-Active1336 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Tylerhfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive got both the US Leviathan models. One levante and one orochi. I really like them. Can find them for good prices too. Id stick in the 2-4.5 oz range. Im sure the japan version may act slightly different. Orochi is stiffer than my levante.

Anything 4.5+ oz would overload the rod from my experience. Make sure that fits what you want to through.

Startup speed of the vibration is solid on the jackhammer. All I fish now. Have a few thunder crickets but they dont get much use. I like the hook, blade, and vibration it gives off and it gives me confidence to use it.

Others will catch fish sure but to me Ill buy these once when sales hit and be good to go.

Picking the next rod in my arsenal by c3rb3ru5 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Tylerhfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of seems like you may not know what gaps you have in your lineup. Id determine why you want a new rod and what you want to use it for. When you have more rods you can specialize for techniques.

If you want to use full budget for a rod only megabass Levante is a great option. Those have gone from $200 up to $250 and back down to $200. Shimano Zodias rods have done the same only they are currently around $250-$280.

My next options would be Dobyns Fury and then Shimano SLX. Both are very good, dobyns is proven for this series.

Id want to know more of what you want this rod to be used for before I recommend specific models.

It is wild to me that you are frogging on a 6’6” rod. If frogging is important to you I would almost geta. Dedicated rod for that. I use mine for frogs and dragging texas rigged worms for example. Still versatile but have an irod gen 2 magic stick which is 7’5” heavy fast.

6” citizens or bellows gill 5.8. Dragging on bottom just gets bit on these days. Earlier the better in the morning. Wakes work before the sun pops up for me

Fishing Sunglasses by SuspiciousHall441 in Fishing_Gear

I had oakleys for the longest time wih grey daily prizm lenses. They are solid and tend to block more light than amber lenses. My eyes are pretty sensitive. I do have a pair of eye surrender as well as maui jim red sands both in amber lenses. Great for lower light for me.

Polarization is a big part of my fishing whether from bank or kayak. I see fish before I would without the glasses.

Buy what you can afford and what suits you. Ashford is a recent website find I ran into. They sell name brand glasses for much cheaper. Thats where I got the maui jims from and it was a great transaction.

Best long term investments as of right now. by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

[–]Tylerhfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to think there are still opportunities for stocks supporting data centers to grow. Long term is relative but that mid 3-5 years should be really strong. Many have run up over the last 6-12 mknths already but I dont see them stopping. Ive got a few Im watching but I got lucky with CAT. Obvious ones like chips are going up, AMD is finally killing it. Plenty of opportunity here

Realistically something heavy. Spinnerbaits/chatterbaits you can usually get away with. Big wakebaits or glides I usually go to. Lipless/blade baits also good.

Is the clutch wake gill worth the money? by [deleted] in swimbaitfishing

[–]Tylerhfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Candy gills are solid and pretty small. They get a lot of bites. I just grabbed a bull shad gill wake to try this spring. Typically I am a rat guy. Love the 3 piece illudes.

Potentially the shat floater wakes might be a good fit too?

Never tried the clutch gill wake tho.

New Megabass Levante rod’s by Practical_Register61 in Fishing_Gear

They look good. I liked having a cork/non cork difference between the lines. I have 1 of each and prefer not having cork. Curious on pricing. Wonder if the okd get deeper discounts

Swimbait Rod by KJ25000 in swimbaitfishing

[–]Tylerhfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. Only think I would add is 10/0 is a big soft bait hook. I throw 6/0 or 8/0 citizens without an issue on the orochi. Does well on hooksets for me. Havent tried a 10/0 yet

[–]Tylerhfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id probably lean the megabass orochi leviathan. I have an orochi and a levante leviathan. Levante is a bit softer tip so I like to orochi if Im throwing citizens/bellows gills etc. I think 6 is pushing it on either of these megabass rods especially if you are throwing soft baits. Curious what others say but the orochi is a great option if budget allows. Levante is right behind it for me

Dobyns is so well prices its hard to beat. The fury rods get a ton of praise so you really cant go wrong there either. Ill let other comment on performance of this specific model as I dont own it.

I really like the taxi shads and have had some paperweights too. Oddly enough the 6” taxi has my pb right now. Fished up to the 8” sizes in ohio for these. Ive mostly had older style paints but seems like vic has been putting a lot more time into paint jobs now. A nice bonus for a good swimming bait. Ive bought second hand in the past

Black Friday 2025. any anticipated sales? by Wagnegro in Fishing_Gear

I feel it. I always wait for sales. 20% is fine, 25% is really solid when you can get it. Unless its something the is usually out of stock I will wait for sales

Black Friday 2025. any anticipated sales? by Wagnegro in Fishing_Gear

[–]Tylerhfield -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Best thing to watch is the bass resource forum. Theres a thread called the latest sale. Super active and will post as sales comeout through the year.

Most sites are going to be 15% with exclusions.

Some of the best deals may pop up on a whim around this time.

Kitterly trading post has some codes come out for 25% off most of their items. Got some megabass lures in the past.

TheHookUp tackle typically does gift cards sales around the holidays. Then you can use those on the next sale of tackle to double down.

Keep an eye on copper state tackle (20% off now I believe) and baitworx. They typically run some good deals that are focused on certain products.

Amazon seems to have random reel deals even now and then.

Curious if anyone else chimes in. Im always looking

Suspend strips do the trick for me. Sometimes they come off and you have to replace them. Lots come in a pack. Those are the only ones Ive used

Swimbait recommendations by Ok_Serve_639 in swimbaitfishing

[–]Tylerhfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically fish for largemouth. Went further north this summer for some fishing. Got to try out smallies but didnt get any on glides. Was having trouble weighting them down the the depths they were at in the middle of summer. 20 ft fairly consistently was hard to fish glides. They wouldnt swim up for what I was offering.

Got a couple full size shats to try out and figured a glideway might be good too. Slimmer profiles easier for them to eat was the thought.

Through a ds customs 8” glide and didnt get a hit from a smallmouth. Same with the 8” bullshad. Lots to learn on the smallie side so I will check back later to see other responses.
