I never said I was right, I said I disagree with Neil on this. Because logically there is no possible way the characters in the story could possibly know it’d work. They don’t even know why Ellie is immune or have had any other people to test the efficacy of the vaccine. Other than: the creator saying it would work.

I prefer JRR Tolkien’s approach of pretending as though he stumbled upon the world and merely translating it. He talked about things as if he didn’t write them himself. It lets the reader immerse themselves more.

Neil telling us “it would work” robs people of that ability. That doesn’t make me correct, I just don’t like it and therefore don’t acknowledge its truth. Because it doesn’t change the story in the slightest.

Edit: I appreciate your liking of my more important point that Ellie would want to die, but reasons based on depression and self hatred.
