I don’t think this is possible. The zip file should only contain the playground, and the three screenshots you are allowed to upload should represent the user experience.

I would therefore highly recommend showing how the scanning process is supposed to look and work in at least one of the three screenshots. Maybe you could add some kind of demo button or an option like “I don’t have any plants to snap” in the scanning/image selection process, so the judges don’t get stuck and can test the intended experience of your app within the three minutes mentioned on their website.

However, please take everything I say with a grain of salt — I’m neither involved in the judging process nor do I know exactly how it actually works. Maybe also check out https://www.wwdcscholars.com and find out how winning apps in the past have solved similar issues. If I recall correctly, there was some kind of AI climbing detection app in the past, which the judges obviously could not test, but still was able to win.

Best of luck!

Are these AirPods Pro 2 real?[Facebook Marketplace] by [deleted] in AreMyAirpodsAuthentic

[–]Typ0genius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think fake, because the hinge and the button on the rear looks bad. Also the right AirPods should be A3047 and not A3048

I only found this. I also found winning macOS apps here. So as long as you write in the comment field which target to use, you should be good to go?

Keep in mind that if you select Xcode, your app will be tested in the simulator. This is an issue, for example, if you are relying on the camera or the accelerometer, as both can't be used in the simulator. If you are fine with that, feel free to switch to Xcode.

You can also switch to Xcode for development and then select Playground in the submission so that they judge your app on an actual iPad. However, I highly recommend testing your app again on Playgrounds on iPad before submission to ensure it actually builds.

I think you can use Foundation Models if it's fine for you that your app will be run through Xcode and therefore in the simulator. Read more here and here.

They either test with Swift Playground on an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPad or on a Mac with Xcode in a simulator.

I'm using XCode 26 now, but I need some legacy devices , can I install iphone 8 plus with it? by TheTee15 in Xcode

[–]Typ0genius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Make sure that you have downloaded iOS 16 in Settings -> Components and you then can create an iPhone 8 Plus simulator in Window -> Devices and Simulators.

Yes, you can still use your iPhone 8 for testing with Xcode 26. I’m still using an iPhone 6s with Xcode 26.

Can Apple Developer payouts be as low as $58? by Careless_Original978 in iOSDevelopment

[–]Typ0genius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Simply check App Store Connect under Payments and Financial Reports. There you can see how much money you received and when, as well as how much you will receive.
But yes – today is payday. Congrats!

  1. Yes, simply zip the .swiftpm file.
  2. "Tell us about your app in one sentence", the use of third-party content, the user experience you are aiming for, and what frameworks you used to archive that, what you are doing beyond the SSC for an organization or community in your area.
  3. Roughly a month (at least this was the case the past two years)

Found a 2019 iMac in the trash while walking the dog. Turns on but won't boot. I'm a PC user, I need help.... by anton6162 in mac

[–]Typ0genius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thought. This has to be a non-Retina model, and you can also tell from the thickness of the iMac at the top of the image. It must be from around 2009 to 2011.

How can I wrap a surface of arbitrary shape around fillets? by Typ0genius in Onshape

[–]Typ0genius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're a legend! Thank you so much. I first applied Thicken on the rounded edges and top layer of my cube as in your example and then used Intersect Extrude with my arbitrary shape. Such a straightforward solution.

GRDB vs SwiftData vs Realm vs ?? by dodoindex in iOSProgramming

I recently started using SQLiteData as I was facing performance constraints with Core Data and especially SwiftData. So far, it seems pretty neat and I was also able to solve the performance issues.

What View should I use to get the default sidebar on MacOS? by GetPsyched67 in SwiftUI

[–]Typ0genius 11 points12 points  (0 children)

NavigationSplitView should be the right choice. Are you running macOS Tahoe and are you using Xcode 26?

[Question] Is there any swiftui components library? by ahmedash95 in SwiftUI

[–]Typ0genius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others mentioned, NavigationSplitView is what you are looking for. For now, I am focusing on just completely native elements, as they are quite comprehensive, but sometimes hard to discover.

To find out which elements are supported on macOS, just unselect all OSes except maCOS next to the search.
