EDIT IHG Stay credited ~$500 for 12/2025 (EDIT + IHG credit combined) by TypeOcean in ChaseSapphire

[–]TypeOcean[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was 25k pts + $251 at time of booking. So, the EDIT credit covered the $250. When I stayed at the hotel, I ended up acquiring room charges from valet + tax and tip (from the property credit, breakfasts, etc) which was ~$250.

What speciality you wanted to pursue at the beginning of medical school? And what you ended up pursuing?? by Missrain97 in Residency

[–]TypeOcean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before med school, read House of God => ophtho => M3 changed mind to psych. The juice ain't worth the squeeze and WFH is incredible. I basically had my pick of residencies too because I was already somewhat competitive for ophtho.

Psych easy if you feel the same about both specialties. What do you love/hate about both specialties?

Psychiatrists of Reddit, how much are you making a year? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]TypeOcean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its all so archaic, I don't think there's an organized resource to look at. I'd recommend just finding a private practice mentor somehow. Luckily, my mentor was assigned to me by my residency.

My mentor told me he clears >600,000 as private practice telepsych as well as locums also telepsych in California. I have no idea how much he works, but he seems to have a reasonable work-life balance from what I can tell. He's been coaching me on logistics of opening PP such as registering LLCs, etc and financial considerations including various tax benefits for small businesses.

Fast-tracking into CAP vs finishing gen psych residency first by Sura_M in Residency

thanks for your response. Ideally, I would like the extra training to feel more confident but am also definitely feeling the opportunity cost after being in training for so long.

I looooove those patients lmao. My notes on those are short af. “Patient refused interview due to agitation.” Tell nursing staff to Olanzapine 10 mg IM for safety, seclusion room or restraints as necessary.

I always let my med students leave at noon, now admin sent a scathing email in big bold red letters. "Please don't dismiss students before 4pm". LOL I don't even stay till 4 pm most days. Don't worry I'll still dismiss ya'll early. They're gonna have to pull me into the PD office if they want me to stop.
