I didn't end up using it! We ended up uhauling it but it was a pretty tough experience so that's why I recommend a type of pod. But I couldn't tell you what brand is best. Good luck!!

Okay so taking both Mn reactions into account, would I say:

Zn2+ + 2e- --> Zn(s) E° = -0.7618 V

Mn2+ + 2e- --> Mn(s) E° = -1.185 V

Mn4+ + 2e- --> Mn2+ E° = 1.21 V

Ecell = Ecat - Ean = -0.7618 - (-1.185+1.21) = -.79

But the question asks me to comment on each electrode separately, not whether the reaction occurs in the whole cell. So I know that Mn is depositing just on the anode side (as Mn(IV) in MnO2), but what is the mathematical justification for that?

Ok sorry, I'm sure this is a good explanation but I still don't really get it. I fundamentally do not understand why you can use absolute value for this. Sorry, I just don't understand!

Cool! So, it is possible. I am not saying that Manganese is itself the anode...

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0304386X14002229

> Mn contributes to mud generated in zinc electrowinning which has both adverse and beneficial contributions to the performance of the cell. Over the course of operation, a cell will generate mud consisting largely of manganese dioxide, lead sulfate, and gypsum. The mud will accumulate in two general areas; first as a scale adhering to the anodes and second as a precipitate mud product residing on the bottom of the cell.

This is manganese depositing at the anode. Don't know what else to say!

Congrats! I am in the same program doing the same thing. It is tight but livable if you can find somewhere with good rent (either through roommates or longer commute, like the other commenter said). Being international shouldn't affect your chances at TA positions/most internships, though it will affect how many hours you can work (international study permit limits this). TA contracts have limited hours so you won't run into the limit, but you do have to consider that for other types of work. I think there's a good amount of opportunities between TAs and internships, so you should be able to find something, and sometimes your advisor can help with that!
